Doxing and Harassment
Right now, this is just a reminder about this topic. I don't know of any situation where it's actually happened with any member of this forum. But it's serious enough that I feel the need to reiterate it.
There is no scenario where any poster here should make unwanted contact, directly or indirectly, with another OH poster. I realize a lot of us are friends on social media (or in real life). Of course, that's fine. The key word is "unwanted." If someone makes it clear to you that they don't wish to associate with you outside of this site, that is the end of it. Period.
If, for whatever reason, you have information about a person that you have attained from sources outside of this site, there is no scenario in which it would be acceptable to share any of that information.
We have made it clear that we aren't going to have a hair-trigger when it comes to permanent bans. I believe in second (and third, and so on) chances. But what I've outlined in the previous two paragraphs is absolutely non-negotiable. And if it happens, the repercussions are absolutely irrevocable. In other words, the first time a poster crosses one of the lines outlined in the last two paragraphs, they will get a ban to infinity. My brother (who is my best friend in the world) lurks and occasionally posts here. If he broke either of those two rules, he would get the same treatment. I simply have no choice.
We ask you to be decent to one another. But we demand that you stay out of each other's personal affairs. There were a few situations, in all the history of the Mane, where lines like this were crossed. It doesn't happen often. But one time is too many.
