  • Supreme Court breached - Alito draft opinion overturning Roe on Politico

The drama is as bad as anything I've ever seen.

Laura Ingraham said, "This could be the end of the Court." Guests say "this is a disaster of epic proportions."

I've read several sections of the opinion .... there are ZERO surprises.

Sure, you can't breach SCOTUS data, and the FBI should investigate (it could be one of the liberal justices).

Well then Mr. Green-jeans, I must be all cried out, because I've known (and most folks in the know have known) this has been a fait accompli since Brett Kavanaugh was seated in 2019.

IN FACT... I've been kinda shocked it's May now, and the opinion STILL hasn't been released. Remember, fo Coney-Barrett and some of the rest, this is about mass murder of fetal souls. How many have died while the Court has dithered so?!

Lol, yeah, 1/3 of the SC made up of justices appointed by the twice impeached guy who tried to overturn an election. And now a 50 year old SCOTUS ruling that a majority of Americans support is possibly going to get overturned. We live in interesting, and quite terrifying, times.

The highest court isn’t impartial, the Congress is non-functional, and the Executive is essentially relegated to EO, on far to many pressing issues.

America is done, it’s just hasn’t completely toppled yet. We are moving backwards in every way that matters. I just hope I can retire and be gone before it’s a disaster… just a few more years, limp along, please..

If I had to pick beforehand who would be the one to write the opinion, I would have picked Alito.

How much is there left to extract, the top 5% own and control everything, outside of destroying Medicare and SS, what’s left?

it’s gonna get ugly here. Less and less people identify as religious, and fundamentalist christians think they’re hated now… oh my just wait… people don’t take kind to rights and protections being rolled back on them, especially when it’s a very small group doing it to the majority.

In 2022 how we’re still subject to absurd mythologies blows my mind… are people really that afraid of dying that they have to perpetuate such nonsense?… I guess so!

No, it's legal now in almost all 50 states - Texas and Mississippi are a couple of exceptions. But that number will start dropping and dropping and dropping, depending on how motivated each state legislature is to banning the procedure.

It's very likely abortion rights will always - or for all intents always - remain in CA, OR, WA and Hawaii. Also IL, NY, CO, Minnesota, Massacusetts, CT, RI, VT and NH, among others.

I don't like to admit this, because it runs counter to my respect for a woman's reproductive rights, but there are some pretty basic, pretty solid reasons why Roe v. Wade should be overturned. SCOTUS is charged with first and foremost Constitutional issues, not medical and health care issues.

What must happen now is for Congress - this bi-cameral Democratic controlled Congress (tick-tock tick-tock) - to get to work with "Mitch McConnell-Amy Coney-Barrett" speed to legislate, in Title 42 of the United States Code, a statutory scheme covering all issues in vitro, birth control, pre-natal, obstectrics, etc, including that abortion is a confientil decision and procedure to be kept confidential between doctor and patient. For legislative intent, there are some EXCELLENT points. For example, carrying a baby to term poses more health risks than teminating the pregnancy.

HERE IS WHERE IT BELONGS, Chapter 5 ....

                    . . .

So, was it a breach, or a leak? Maybe somebody wanted to get a taste of the fall-out?

Not that women of means will have a problem getting an abortion. Poor women will suffer most.

Not that the right cares. Poor women who have sex are sluts and whores to them.

the exaggeration is that this ends abortion. States could set their own laws on how long into a pregnancy an abortion is allowed, which is the way it should be. People can vote in their states to shape the laws in their own state. Left wing activist money could be given to fly women who want late term abortions to another state, at least then this money won't be used to destroy our schools and other critical aspects of our nation.

In other words, the same people the white Christian nationalists want to vote off the island.

Now they can look forward to the ensuing tsunami of unwanted non-white children.

These simpletons obviously haven’t thought this whole anti-choice crusade of theirs through.

This is a major point that is largely ignored. If overturned, abortion doesn’t end. It simply impacts the ability to get a legal abortion, or a safe abortion, in many parts of the country. And this will only be a small hurdle for wealthy people, but a giant one for the less wealthy.

The anti-abortion folks don’t care. To them, a woman counts for less than a zygote. Or a rapist. Or an incestuous pervert.

Interesting to consider. If the GOP did it, maybe it’s because they want to see the public response to it so they can decide whether or not to proceed with the consideration being whether or not it would hurt them leading up to the mid-terms. If the Dems did it, maybe it’s to fire up the base, also with the mid-terms as the motivating factor.

If they catch the leaker and it's a SCOTUS judge I would be shocked. IMO, there is no way it was one of the justices. That leaves the clerks. I doubt it was a clerk for a conservative judge, but you never know. If the clerk is caught it will be the end of their legal career. They will be disbarred, or if not an attorney yet they will be unable to become one. If it was hacked I think they will be able to prove that with computer forensics.
