  • Broncos camp battles & Roster analysis

More moves will be made, injures may occur but at this point we can begin to discuss and speculate what the roster may look like.

I think Malik Reed’s spot is tenuous. With the drafting of Bonita and potential move of Browning, he may lose out in a numbers game. Paton may move him for a late round choice.

At center Cushenberry is another candidate that may get traded. Wittenberg was drafted, and Glasgow can play center.

I'm still a Risner fanboy and I'm hoping he stays with the Broncos. Not sure about Cush, but I know he's been part of the crew that goes to Wilson's place in Cali to work out with rest of offense

Offensive line is one place where starters could be in flux. Other positions have competition, but mostly for depth.

They aren't trading Cushenberry to start Wattenberg.

I think people need to begin to understand something. They had Glasgow take a pay cut to stay...Wattenberg was drafted in the 5th round and he's undersized along with play strength issues.
You guys really think Cush isn't starting this year?

I agree. Wattenberg needs some time in the weight room before he can start. Cush, IMO will be starting this year.

I think there is a good chance at that yes. I’d say even higher chance he doesn’t finish the year as the starter.

            best 5:

            LT Bolles
            LG Risner
            C Glasgow
            RG Meinerz
            RT Turner

If this panned out I think they would still keep Cush, he isn't expensive and would make a good backup in cash a guard went down and Glasgow was moved around.

I don't think Glasgow is better than Cush, just higher paid. We'll find out after camp.

They brought back music and fun to the organization so no reason not to trust them.

Broncos aren't going to trade a guy who started every snap at (C) outside one COVID game last season. The speculation he was going to get moved during the draft was wrong. This will be wrong too. Not really sure how that Twitter rumor even gained steam. Glasgow hasn't been healthy and Wattenberg isn't close to being ready. Not going to happen.

I’m curious which safety’s we will keep and which TE gets the cut.

Our Oline depth is a strength. Our starting oline may not be a strength but it’s not a weakness compared to others in this league.

Oline depth is good. Lots of competition. New scheme with new staff, not everyone can make it. We shall see.

It's fan driven narrative bullshit. Cush has not been what many expected or hoped he would be so the most liked player is his potential replacement. Meinerz last season even though he was clearly a G and should have always been. It's Glasgow this year because he's a vet and higher paid.

Cush has to improve, no doubt about that but if they were actively looking to replace him, especially with Wilson coming in, we would have signed a FA or traded for someone.

It's literally a prove it season for virtually every player Paton and this staff isn't tied to.

Certainly Glasgow's last ride in Denver because he isn't making $13M next season. Risner is a free agent. Anderson, Braden, Turner and Compton are on one-year deals. Same questions could be applied to Muti. With that in mind, I don't think sending off a prior two-year starter who has two more contract years is in the cards for Denver. They got a lot of competition there but it would take a pretty bad camp for them to even consider moving LCIII, IMHO.

Short of a season ending injury or disastrous camp with him coming in out of shape and forgetting how to play football... Cush is going to be the starter. The "competition" they looked at around draft time and even brought in was mostly G players. Wattenberg is not a factor this year due to S&C issues along with still learning the C position.
Paton has positioned himself to either re-sign the guys that excel or clean the slate and start anew with draft picks or FA's in 2023.

Cushenberry may have a breakout year as we switch back to a zone system.

Is Dre'Mont Jones about to have a big season? I think he's going off this year.

Broncos defensive end Dre'Mont Jones not thinking about new contract heading into final year
Broncos General Manager George Paton has previously said Jones is a player they hope to keep in the future, and for good reason. In Jones' three seasons, he's had 86 tackles, 19 tackles for loss and 15.5 sacks. Last season, he totaled nine tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks.

Jones said his goal for 2022 is to have double-digit sacks for the first time in his career. And if Jones accomplishes that, he'll likely earn himself a big pay day.

It seems like he’s ready for it. Another defensive Elway gem. Funny how he was so good at that side of the ball.

But I would trade him for Wilson every time.
So every time we score more than 17 points, that's when I will not miss him batting down passes as much.

who knows, they may cut him. Be interesting if we would pick him back up.

Has it been rumored he may not make the Seahawks roster? I was surprised a couple yrs ago when Shelby got no love in FA and returned to Denver.

It's possible. Another year starting in the NFL and adding Wilson as his QB can only help. Cush is a smart dude, people tend to forget all of the mental things being a C entails.
