  • I'm done.

I'm done with Football. I'm done with the NFL. I cannot, in good conscious, continue to support this product.

From the way they handled Ray Rice was the beginning.

The CTE and coverup is another reason. They've have lied and tried to cover up the damage they are doing to people.

I almost gave up over Tyreek Hill. He literally punched a fetus, and then broke his toddler's collarbone. You can say "he was never convicted", but the texts and voicemails are not those of an innocent person. It sickens me to see people wearing his jersey and making him a superstar. For my own self respect, I should have given up then.

This whole Jon Gruden thing is the final straw. Not just that he said those things, but rather the league basically is staying "we have dirt on you, and will use it to suit our purposes". They are not concerned at all about doing the right thing. They are only concerned with protecting thier image, and therefore, the bottom line.

Forcing cheerleaders to pose topless and sending these pics to your buddies is also particularly despicable. Snyder is a slimeball. However Gruden gets all the pressure. He deserves it no doubt, but so do the others.

Adam Schefter basically is a bought mouthpiece. "I shouldn't have done that, but I've never held back blah blah blah" yeah right buddy.

It's all fraud, it's all fake, and the fact that the league and teams are so heavily investing in gambling also de-legitimizes the whole sport. When they are so obviously willing to play dirty to protect the bottom line, why wouldn't they do so to maximize profits from gambling?

    It's been fun NFL.

The NFL is a slimy business enterprise,
not much different than abhorrent operations like Purdue Pharma or Tobacco Companies.

I think the CTE coverup is what I find most disgusting… I don’t blame you one bit here!

Sorry to see you go, Powderaddict, I always liked you and your posts. We all have to follow our conscience, so while I wish you would reconsider, I understand completely. I just look at it differently, I guess. I understand that the NFL is more than a game, it’s entertainment for millions, and more importantly, a huge money making company that has become extremely powerful as a result. Like ALL powerful corporations, they are protecting their interests.

So do we just ignore their indiscretions? Of course not. But is the NFL making an effort to make past wrongs, right? I think so even though slower than ideal, but I’m sure that point can be debated. Anyway, good luck to you, and take care.

If they were trying to make things right, they would do more than trickle info out on guys they have a personal vandetta against.

It's about image, not about making things right.

I'm not going to stop watching TVs and Movies because there have been despicable acts in Hollywood and I disagree with many of the actors politics. That's the same way I view football. Everyone has their own way of looking at it though, and I won't criticize you for looking at it this way Power addict.

i can’t remember the last time I watched a new movie. Hollywierd is horrible. They can’t even put out a good product anymore.

The NFL is on its way down. Embracing gambling is a very poor choice. Getting political is another huge mistake.

I’ll never understand the obsession of announcing to the world “I’m not watching anymore!”, I guess it’s the cool way thing to do right now… I don’t know…

Yeah, embracing gambling could possibly be what takes them down if they are not careful. However, the NFL has always accommodated the gambling industry while at the same time denouncing any affiliation. Did you know that the requirement to post the weekly injury reports were originally intended to benefit the gamblers? This requirement has been in place for many years.

Jimmy the Greek baby! I'm stunned by the amount of gambling apps they advertise these days.

I've noticed (or at least it seems that way) that questionable calls don't always get replayed. Maybe there's something there, maybe not. The old school thinking was.. if you're dumb enough to bet on NFL, you get what you deserve.

This 100%!!! It was obvious they had an axe to grind with Gruden. He is getting what he deserved. But, if you think Gruden is anything more than the tip of the iceberg you're mistaken. D.Smith hit the nail on the head this morning. Show us the rest of the emails. Were minority coaches smeared and/or dismissed in similar fashion? How about players with different sexual orientation or religious preferences? There is a huge iceberg here but only the tip has surfaced. To PA's point, do you think the rest will be exposed? And, if it is not, is the NFL actively covering up the real sinister acts within the league? So many questions and I have my doubts about them ever being answered.

Why now? Football was FAR worse in the past. REAL racism. Real sandbagging of black coaches. Real sexual harassment drug use and overall gutterball behavior. Gambling was rampant and connected to organized crime. Far more scandals.

it just wasn’t magnified because the internet didn’t exist. There were no Schefters or blue checks. There was no accountability when an owner refused to hire a black coach…the NFL treated Jim Brown like a slave.

Much like Baseball. Actual real segregation and refusal to play black players. REAL racists sit in their HOF.

say what we want about todays era, but it was FAR worse in the past.

EVERY sport has a shit past with skeletons in the closet. Every single sports league and sport itself. From football baseball Baskeball hockey to tennis to gymnastics golf etc etc.

                      Attention seeking behavior… That’s all I got.

The football season has been pretty good so far, the games have all been entertaining, some great finishes, no team is significantly better than anybody else, only a couple really bad teams. Even the Broncos have a winning record for the moment.

Really, Jon Gruden is where we’re drawing the line? The dude is a jerk, not surprising he says jerky things.

Everything has to be turned into something, we can’t just laugh at Gruden and the Raiders and move on.

You can. I enjoy football and agree there have been some really good games. Does that mean we look the other way when there are such significant issues? I didn't do that when Colin Kaepernick was kneeling and I won't do it when owners, GMs, coaches and players are doing things like Gruden said and did. I won't to know how deep it runs. For years minorities have claimed that the league is racist and takes away fair opportunities. I called BS on that... for years. Now, it looks like it may be true. Shed the light and burn this bitch down if necessary!

Yeah, I would never make a declaration like this because I'm in no position, mentally, to deemphasize football in my life.

Thought 1. I'm pretty convinced that if we keep gong down this rabbit hole, we would all have to quit every organized institution on the face of the earth.

Thought 2. As long as there are humans, this stuff will continue to be an issue.

Thought 3. In 50 years, we will probably be horrified at how we lived in 2021.

                                          Your outrage is commendable.
I would rather football gets a chin check and gets back to football than to see it straight disappear over a few privileged taker dudes malfeasances and poor judgement while involved in football. These taker dudes are not football, they just happen to be participating in football. Big difference. Meaning they can be cleaned out eventually...

I hate the Raiders and Washington's BS logo calls for karmic retribution too... So this whole thing is way cool to me. Now if only KC can be involved as well somehow it will be perfect. But as long as they keep losing, that's still awesome...
