  • Offseason Practice: The start of the Hackett/RW3 Era

George Paton hit the Upgrade button. We may win the Super Bowl this season. We may not. Either way I feel like the team is in better hands with the Paton/Hackett/Wilson trio and it's going to be fun and exciting for the first time in a long time.

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — And on the first day of offseason practice, the new quarterback, Russell Wilson, faked a handoff to the new coach, then reared up and threw.

Yes, Nathaniel Hackett is a hands-on coach.

"He just brings great energy," Wilson said. "He’s young, he’s vibrant, he brings that intelligence to the game. Obviously he has a great pedigree. He wants to win too, so. But our relationship is really tight. To give him a little handoff here and there. Somebody said they called him White Lightning. I don’t know."

It was the first day of the Broncos voluntary minicamp. It’s an extra one that only teams with a new coach get.

"You want guys to come out here and want to practice and want to get better – and Russ leads that charge," Hackett said. "I mean, this guy loves practice. Out there in the end, he was 'Wait. We’re done? Can we do more?' I’m like I would love to but we’ve got to tone it down. Baby steps."

I agree GF, the whole set up seems right. Fangio seemed oppressive. Now Hackett brings in a fresh hands on approach. Paton is killing it in the draft. And, RW3 a legit franchise level QB & leader.

    Let’s go Broncos!

Count me cautiously onboard. Broncos’ defense is still a big question mark in my opinion.

You just lose Shelby Harris and have nothing change.

My worries are centered on a new coaching staff and question marks at OLB, ILB, CB, and DL.

We even got an upgrade from Harris in Jones

              gregory is an upgrade

We are getting jewell back. Paton will definitely draft someone for defense. We should be good.

we got better on D yes?
granted the number of batted balls will come down

Jewell back chubb one year removed from ACL

                slot Cb
                edge rusher
                better run stuffer

                S opppsite Simmons is a ?

i think one of the picks from day two will come in and improve the D

Gregory is a huge boom or bust prospect for sure . two edge rushers is critical especially if the O hits 25 ppg and the D can play with a lead

I agree. Overall Fangio was a bad head coach. However he did get results out of the D. Consistently. I think the D is worst without him but the team overall is better with him gone.

Hoping the best for Hamler too. It's also nice to see Hackett's enthusiasm in the videos. It's palpable. Hopefully his energy and approach is embraced by the team and it helps yield results on the field!

So much different than Fangios stale trash he put forth.

****ing tasteless chips in a grey bag that guy produced.
