Mind blowing how people are so bad with finances. They’ll buy a brand new car with nothing down so it’s a massive car payment on minimum wage jobs….then complain they have no money.

You do realize that when those 60% file for that refund they put their income and it is computed of how much taxes they owe for their circumstances, then the refund is what they overpaid.

Considering that the rich are supposed to pay 39% of their income and only pay 10% of that 39% and the middle class owe 25% and pay 95% of that, no one wants the rich to pay more, just their share. Get a flat tax and we'll all be happy, well somewhat.

Well, I wasn't talking about those on gov't asst. They cannot file taxes on that money anyway or get refunds. I'm speaking of middle class. I'm not totally for the EIC either. Maybe part jealousy. I never qualified for EIC although I had 6 children because I was already making too much by the time it came out. The largest tax refund I ever got was $1500, one time. My kids now get $8000-$10000. I agree, why? They chose to have the kids and if it's tough raising them, that should promote birth control. I'm on a fixed income now and I still pay every year. More than Trump's paid. And no, I am not happy where my money is spent. If there is one section of the population I would like to see addressed it's the single tax payer with no children. But again I say, flat tax.

I'd like to address this....

I was born into a middle to lower class family and my parnets divorced when was 4.

I dug myself a big hole by having my first kid in high school, married her, and had 2 more kids before age 23. got divorced. Had full custody of the 3 kids. Got government help in 2 forms...daycare assistance, and a grant that helped pay for me to go to college. By the time I had met and married my second wife (CINDY) ...I had a decent job...and after a while she learned to do nails. We were not rich. We were net tax payers.

I want to be clear, I am forever thankful that I got daycare assistance so I could work and go to school and a grant that paid about half my tuition...(wich was only about 15k for a 2 year associates in electronics...the ROI on it has been insane) ....The programs I used were intended to help someone like me join the ranks of the productive, tax paying memeber of our society...which I have...for a long time now.

That said...my wife and I have made a BIG bet on her ability to do nails, understand the pricing, customers, employees, supplies and all that....when I say big bet...I mean..EVERYTHING we had..every penny we had...and more..bank loans...loans from family...and a hefty loan from some folks who I like to call vietnames mafia (they aren't, but close enough) .......

We are now very well off and we are expanding to 2 more shops very soon....again, at substantial financial risk...

To make that work...I have spent countless hours fixing things, building things, dealing with permits, and people and bankers, and so on...it's not fun. For her part, Cindy works every day of the week...often for 12 hours or more...alot of that is doing nails and managing her people...but a there are hours and hours of cleaning, getting things ready, getting supplies, payroll, hiring, firing.

Our nail salon grossed 1.75 million. Net about 250k. at my day job, I made about 120k.

I'm not asking anyone anywhere to feel sorry for us. We are doing just fine....but it's a huge punch in the gut to have written a check for 72k in 2021 and another due in april that will be 59k.

We employee 22 people and do our best to see to it that all of them do well (they are) I am tired of hearing how I don't pay my "fair share"....that to be where we are now...we must have stepped on peoples heads on the way up the ladder....that we don't deserve the nice things we have....to those people I would say simply....GO F**K YOURSELF!.

Me, my associates degree, average sized penis, and my imported, poor englsh speaking, no diploma wife...have earned every penny.

I am not against helping people who need some help. I got some. I used it and took advantage of it. ...I HATE....CAN NOT STAND the losers in life out there who are like hitchhikers, that haven't got a damn thing....wanting to tell me where to drive my car. GTFO.

A flat tax would essentially strip politician of a bulk of their power over the populace… that will never, ever happen… though I think I simple flat tax system would be the best policy by far…

With housing the way it is you can't afford a place unless you want to have 3-4 roommates. This is what I read about getting an apartment in DC: If you are renting an average priced 1-bedroom apartment in Washington, DC, your annual salary should be around $97,760 or higher. Insanity! We are just incentivizing staying on the government payouts and are basically going to bankrupt ourselves at some point unless we either raise taxes or find practical solutions to our out of control housing markets.

You're supposed to pay that quarterly. Else you get penalized.

Exactly...so let's make them tax deductible. That doesn't fix the cash flow problem for the individual, but it's an operating expense and the money spent should not be counted as income.
