    Trump Sues Clinton

    Former President Donald Trump filed a sprawling federal lawsuit on Thursday against Hillary Clinton, the Democratic National Committee and 26 other people and entities that he claims conspired to undermine his 2016 campaign by falsely tying him to Russia.

    The lawsuit names a wide cast of characters that Trump has accused for years of orchestrating a "deep state" conspiracy against him -- including former FBI Director James Comey and other FBI officials, the retired British spy Christopher Steele and his associates, and a handful of Clinton campaign advisers.

    "Under the guise of 'opposition research,' 'data analytics,' and other political stratagems, the Defendants nefariously sought to sway the public's trust," says the lawsuit, filed in federal court in Florida. "They worked together with a single, self-serving purpose: to vilify Donald J. Trump."

        Can't wait until they get to discovery and Clinton's attorneys demand all the Deutsche Bank files to show that, yes indeed, Trump is deeply connected to Russia.

              Right -- how many times has Trump incited his rally crowds to chant "Lock Her Up"? As if that is not an "injurious falsehood" -- with all of the partisan investigations of the Clintons, if there were any evidence that Hillary had done anything to merit being "locked up" -- it would have been found long, long ago.

                Looks like Trump's lawsuit might turn out to be just another bankruptcy...

                CNN senior legal analyst Elie Honig, a former federal prosecutor, said, “It’s difficult to put into words just how deeply flawed and utterly hopeless this lawsuit is.”

                Mark S. Zaid, founding partner of a Washington, D.C., law firm, said Trump’s lawyers should be embarrassed that they filed the lawsuit.

                  I have a few words to get you started:
                  • Political speech - "Swaying the public's trust" and "Vilifying (your opponent)," sound like garden variety political campaigning. Made by a direct political opponent during a campaign for office. And the alleged swaying and villifying concern foreign policy goals and ideals - functions of the office sought. So it is purely political speech, and not actionable. In fact, this swaying and villifying should be extended the full protection of the Free Speech clause of the First Amendment.
                  • No Damages - Even if there existed statements and accusations that were not purely political, and they fell outside First Amendment protections, I'm not clear where or how plaintiff has been damaged. If I recall correctly, plaintiff was elected President of the United States in 2016.
                  Interesting that you complain of malicious prosecution. Did Hillary or the DNC file a civil suit, or cause criminal charges to be filed against you? Maliciously and without probable cause? Because all these elements are required to sustain a claim of abuse of process or malicious prosecution.

                  But HOLD ON! THIS.is a civil lawsuit ... filed against Hillary ... maliciously and ... without probable cause!
