  • Gregory is an unnecessary risk .....

    Guy is 30 soon, can't stay healthy/available

6 sacks last year? 14 million per year...

Never really played a full season, gets dinged all the time...

Hot and cold motor, not feeling good about this...

In my opinion, this is a real bad allocation of resources, a draft pick would have been better.

This should have gone to a RT or even Von.

The Jewell resigning was good price and good value.

DJ Jones is a great signing, and of course Wilson....

But why did Paton have to do this deal....UGH

5 years, but really only two Guaranteed make this palatable..... but this move is a C-

Im told this is happening behind the scenes and Rodgers is gracefully leaving GB and will be joining his best friend Hackett and the Broncos!

Not sure this topic needs a new thread, but whatever.

There is definitely a risk/reward associated with this move that we probably can't calculate for 2 years.
Also - why does this count us out from drafting more pass rushers? Not sure about the comment "draft pick would have been better."

He certainly has a high upside, we'll see of he responds to Hackett

I’m just hoping this isn’t Payton’s version of Elways Juwann James signing.

High risk high reward I get it but still! I’ll be surprised if Gregory can make it through the entire season healthy.

Edge rushers tend to get dinged a lot. Chubb and Miller are both prime examples. If Gregory is over his substance abuse issues, he'll do fine here. We could always use more depth there.

Gregory in Denver Might turn out to be a egregious since he likes his molta.
If he keeps his act together and actually stays healthy paired with DJ Jones, this may turn out to be one hell of an off-season.

                Is there risk? Sure, BUT…

Paton isn’t making Gregory the highest paid edge rusher in NFL history like Elway made James the highest paid RT in NFL history(at that point). Besides, I really think the guaranteed $$$ in his contract is fairly reasonable for his position. JMO

6 sacks but 17 qb hits and pressure’s. The heat is as good as the sack they lead to bad throws and ints for the guys on the backend! This was a great signing! Guys all grown up his body really only has 4 seasons on it because of the early on seasons missed like 4-5 of them via suspension. Have you watched the tape on this guy and the things he does and it capable of?

                      https://youtu.be/JQqczm_j1ZI dudes a athletic monster!

The difference is Gregory won’t be milking injuries tryin to avoid playing

He was on the Cowboys leadership council last year. I am hoping he has grown up and we are getting the best version of him. We will see.

I don't want an edge rusher who's a boy scout.

I won't say Paton is going all-in yet, but this is a risky move, he's been more aggressive than I expected.

Besides never playing a full season and besides the lack of production as a pass rusher, what also scares me is that Gregory's career-best against the run is 25 tackles in 2018. People mostly think about the pass rush, but I wonder what grades Gregory has received through the years against the run.

In 2018, 2020 and 2021 Gregory played in 14, 10 and 12 games and his tackle numbers were 25, 21 and 19. What the hell? His average is 1,7 tackles per game. Just for comparion, Von Miller averages 3,6 tackles per game, Chandler Jones averages 3,4.

Congrats to Paton if he was a visionary and this deal works out, but I fear this one will backfire.

so this deal happened because the Tx weed laws are strict compared to Co? He has 3 weed arrests in Tx I heard. NFL should just allow players to smoke weed IMO.

Need to get D. Ware to help keep in inline.
