  • Getting Flashbacks to the 2009 season

We started off that season strong as well, winning our first six games. Then we played the Ravens and they pretty much exposed us. We only won 2 games for the rest of the season. I'm hoping history isn't repeating itself, but man did the Broncos look lost and confused out there today.

It looked the Ravens we’re playing a team of back-ups… guys not in position, guys missing assignments, intensity looked low… it was a sobering day, but one many of us expected after beating up on garbage teams

Too much of it in street clothes though due to injury. Chubb, Jeudy, Hamler…

We were out coached. Outplayed. We layed an egg.

We shall see how we bounce back. If we get it together and win at Pittsburgh, all is well. If we domino into another poor performance, then look out...

We're better than 2009. Risner should be back this week and hopefully TB is ok. Lock did not look prepared to come into the game yesterday, but in fairness both QB's looked off target. Bad offensive plan. Surprised the defense held the Ravens to 6 points in the second half given how poorly we played. They got a free FG right before the half from our atrocious special teams. I'm torn here. Would really love to see us win 10 games this year. Would also really love to see a coaching turnover. I guess either way bronco fans win?

Yep. Chubb and Hamler always in street clothes too.

durability needs to be a priority. Easy to predict Hamler going down every year.

I'm not making excuses for lock but man that dude was running for his life . That was a sad excuse of our O-line. I've been on puling for Lock. But I don't know. Even when he had time he was off. He just doesn't seem to be taking the next step. But man they were in his and teddy's face with in a half second. That was a sad showing.

He had some bad overthrows on the first 3 drives. When he did make completions, they were late and his receiver was tackled immediately. He played like he wasn't paying attention during the offensive install. For someone that supposedly turned over a new leaf in the offseason it was a bad look.

I think we all expected a certain level of adversity to rear its head on the first half of the season. So, let;'s see how this young team responds before we make any snap decisions.

Hopefully, that's the last time Teddy gets knocked out of a game.
                        Hopefully, the O-line gets healthier.
Hopefully, we get Chubb back resembling himself.
Hopefully, Boone makes a difference when he enters the lineup.
Hopefully, Sutton gets back to full speed every game.

Lots of moving pieces here, so I think we should get past the next 3 weeks before passing judgement. If we can win 2 out of 3 we would be sitting at 6-2 and possibly leading the division. Obviously if we are 3-4, its time to start freaking out.

I agree with most of this. I feel both our RBs are amazing yet our running game is lack luster. I don't think Boone is going to help at all. It has to be a combo of our line and play calling.

Well, that and somebody respecting our passing game so they aren’t over committing to stop the run.

The only Orton we have is our ST Coach.
But that's might be disrespect to neckbeard.

The 2009 start was an all time coaching job by Mike Nolan. That defense eventually played to its below average talent level but they almost single handedly gave McDaniels’ shit offense a 6-0 start to blow.

You look over at 2009 roster and it was generally pretty weak. I think most preseason analysis had them as a 5-6 win team that year. Which is really what they were, they had some lucky wins in 6 win start, the holy Stockley, PI not being called at the end of the Cowboys game, getting 2 special teams TDs against the Chargers. But, without getting all the bounces, they ultimately were not a good team, as we saw in the 2nd half of that season.

This team has had plenty of hot starts in September over the years, only to quickly cool off in October and beyond. We’re at the point where things usually start to quickly unravel, we’ll see what happens.

Unless a new QB is coming in that won’t happen anytime soon. Teddy and Lock both cannot hit anything long downfield. Teddy has gotten 2 slot WRs blasted for that dumb pass route. Lock can’t hit any target within 10 feet downfield.

and yet the offense and Shurmur just keep trying because their book says so against the defenses faced. Downfield is a wasted down from this team. Whether it’s garbage protection from the entire OL to bad QB to targets that cannot separate.

this offense is on par with the last 5 seasons we’ve seen.

What really chaps my ass about this last game is the lions gave us a blueprint to win this game. Over all though I have noticed that while Fangios D is great, it is horrible against a scrambling QB.

To be fair though, the D only gave up 23 points to a very good offense, 3 of which were due to bad special teams. And only 6 points in the second half.

hamler was “different” as he could take the top off the defense.

i swear this team is cursed. these injuries take the joy out of bronco sunday. thank god for Red Zone

So, anyone else want to try to talk me down here, convince me that this is a far more talented team than the 2009 squad? Because I'm seeing that exact same issues that sunk us in 2009 sinking us this year.
