I think Os threw the team for a loop which ended up being the Lynch pick. Obviously, one of the worst first round busts. Lock may have been better if he was actually developed. Finding a franchise QB is not easy. Paton went the route of a vet by trading for Wilson.
Now that we have Wilson, I think it’s easier to look back and be appreciative of what Elway did for the team.

By bringing in Peyton, Elway also created a buzz for vets in the league that Denver was a great place to come and play, not to mention the organizational personality that draws players here. Look at the vets (like Talib, Sanders) who left and still love the place. Von publicly wants to come back (and that's after winning a ring with the Rams). I would argue that it was this team climate that Elway created that drew Wilson as well. You could almost call it a form of "gravitational pull." Some teams, like the Broncos, have it. Most don't.

Although I was not a huge fan of Elway the GM I do respect what he did and give him absolute credit on our SB wins. As stated before we wouldn't have gotten Peyton or Super Bowl 50 without him . I also appreciate the Homage Elway gave to Mr. Bowlen at the super bowl. It's too bad his Ego got in the way .
Elway the player is the face of the Broncos. I don't believe there will ever be a better player in our organization or the league. He is my #1 player of all times and I thank him for all the wins he gave us.
