N.Y. Attorney General Can Question Trump and 2 Children, Judge Rules

The New York attorney general can question Donald J. Trump and two of his adult children under oath as part of a civil inquiry into his business practices, a judge ruled on Thursday, rejecting the former president’s effort to block the interviews.

The inquiry by the attorney general, Letitia James, and a parallel criminal investigation led by the Manhattan district attorney are examining whether Mr. Trump improperly inflated the value of his assets to receive favorable loans.

Lawyers for the Trump family had sought to prohibit Ms. James, a Democrat, from interviewing Mr. Trump, Donald Trump Jr. and Ivanka Trump. They had argued that she was politically biased against Mr. Trump and was inappropriately using her civil inquiry to aid the district attorney’s criminal investigation, which she is also participating in.

But the judge, Arthur F. Engoron, wrote that “this argument completely misses the mark.”

He ruled in favor of Ms. James’s lawyers, who had asked that the former president and the two adult children be interviewed in the next three weeks. The order also requires that the former president provide the attorney general with documents she sought in her subpoena.
The wheels of justice are grinding down the Trump mob.

Don the Con's ability to evade accountability for his crimes and the fact that tRump doesn't follow the rules and laws the rest of us live by is a major part of his appeal to his cult followers.

So is it going to become common place for AGs to campaign for office just on the promise to try and dig up any dirt they can on political enemies as James did? You leftists are destroying our systems of justice all for political gain. Good luck in the future when these things are used as precedent to attack people in your political group.

We’re our own worst enemies, from Nixon to Clinton to Trump, we’ve been reluctant to hold anybody in that office to account. Each subsequent person can push the envelope, to which we see now is flagrant behavior. And we wonder why the legislative branch has abysmal approval ratings…

I definitely wouldn't mention Clinton in the same sentence as any Republican president of the past 50 years when it comes to criminality.

First, the Rethugs decide to impeach Clinton. Then they go looking for a crime. A six year-long fishing expedition culminates in Clinton's impeachment for lying about a consensual sexual affair.

Then along comes Dubya, who uses ginned-up "intelligence" to start a war which costs thousands of Americans and hundreds of thousands of Iraqis their lives and siphons trillions of taxpayer dollars into the coffers of Halliburton, Raytheon, Boeing, Lockheed Martin and every oil company that profits from the resulting spike in prices brought about by the destabilization in the region. No impeachment - no accountability whatsoever.

No, both parties are not the same.

Clintons behavior, and subsequent lying under oath, should have been a hard stop for our Presidential Office. While it wasn't a serious crime, Donald Trump essentially used the "well Clinton Did It" in 2016 when the Access Holly wood tape came out. This is what happens when we continue to move the red line, so much so that is ceases to exist.

and now what we get is an asshole that treats the office like a doormat of the worst behavior and corruption... sad!

Oops! Shit's getting deep for Trumpy:

“To deny a President immunity from civil damages is no small step. The court well understands the gravity of its decision. But the alleged facts of this case are without precedent,” Mehta wrote.

“After all, the President’s actions here do not relate to his duties of faithfully executing the laws, conducting foreign affairs, commanding the armed forces, or managing the Executive Branch,” Mehta added. “They entirely concern his efforts to remain in office for a second term. These are unofficial acts, so the separation-of-powers concerns that justify the President’s broad immunity are not present here.”

                                        How Donald Trump Played Himself

Trump’s lawyers argued politics was behind a demand for Trump to testifying about his real estate dealings. The judge didn’t buy it.

The moment it became apparent he was losing, he'd reach over and move the pieces on the board -- or overturn the board entirely -- I mean, rules don't apply to him, right?
