  • Draft Season: Early Poll for Number 9

It is officially Draft Season. Its still really early, so we haven't had time for consensus to really form as of yet. But, I believe there is a solid chance that one or more of the following will be in play at the number 9 selection.

Assuming that Denver doesn't trade out of the number 9 pick, which of the following would you like to see the Broncos pick up. (If you choose other please actually list a draft prospect and don't spam Trade for a certain NFC North QB)
    31
    Ikem Ekwonu: OT NC State
    51.61%
    16
    Derek Stingley Jr: CB LSU

    Devin Lloyd: LB Utah

    George Karlaftis: Edge Purdue

i keep seeing the Michigan edge rusher at 9

stingley opposite surtain would lock down our secondary. fun to watch

IBer at 9 would have to be devin white parson level otherwise wait till round 2

My favorite pick would be Ekwonu, but judging by all the mocks I'm looking at, he's moved up into the top five. He'll be long gone. Looks like all the top OLs are moving up.

Judging from Daniel Jeremiah's initial top 50, if the Broncos don't go QB or send the pick for one, it looks like #9 will be a good spot for edge rushers. And I think the Broncos need two quality edge rushers.

The consensus on Hutchinson is 1 or 2. He'll never make it to 9.

My big concern about Stingley is that he struggled to stay healthy and on the field. Otherwise, he would be a top 5 talent that would make me dance a jig if he fell to us.

He is referencing his teammate David Ojabo.

He's talking about Ojabo, not Hutchinson. Michigan has 2 elite edge rushers in this draft. Both should go top 10.
The issue with Ojabo will be getting him to develop his recognition against the running game.

trade down and pick that left tackle that was in the senior bowl. penning? fits the profile of an aggro dude paton likes.

I went with the tackle because having to bookend tackles to protect Lock would only advance his development. I was leaning edge rusher about a week ago or so but after discovering some very very good gems at edge rusher that’ll be there in round two like Johnson out of FSU as well as some other guys I’d rather go with the elite tackle to protect lock giving him all the time in the world to show off that big arm so he can get the ball to all our playmakers

Bolles and Penning would fight every practice.

If Cross or Ekwonu fall take them

I’d be fine with stingley or kyle Hamilton if he miraculously somehow fell

all penning would need to do is show bolles something shiny to distract him then punch him in the face.

I think this pick should be maneuvered to get a starting quarterback. Paton needs to figure out a way to get it done.

Unless you’re getting Cousins it has to be QB at 9.

which one? Who cares in Feb. ask on April. Just throw a dart.

here’s a question to the group regarding need vs value

with Hackett here , would you rather have Fields or Surtain in 2022

We were in a perfect position to draft any one of several guys who could come in and play RT immediately at the top of the 2nd round last year. Instead of drafting someone to block we drafted a running back known for breaking tackles.

Fields 100% for me. We’ve seen going the other route every year and it’s failed. Lock wasn’t a 1st round pick…Draft QB in the 1st round until you hit. Otherwise you’ll never be competitive going the back up journeyman route, wasting away whatever good player you got instead(a la Chubb Surtain Jeudy etc). What good is having those players if you don’t have a legit QB? Jeudy a 1st round pick. Rendered meaningless with 0 TDs this year.
