  • WR Mash Unit and FA Options

Sure wish we had Trinity Benson right now... at least knows the ropes and has a decent enough potential to be productive. That said, here are some other options that we should probably consider with the news of KJ Hamler's season ending knee injury.

John Brown - Has the speed to do similar things as KJ and has been a producer throughout his career.
Larry Fitzgerald - Definitely a different type of receiver but knows how to get open, doesn't drop passes and can teach our relatively young receiving room a lot about being a professional!
Josh Gordon - Potential. But will that be a out of the league in three games or top tier receiver in three games... crap shoot.
Dez Bryant - We are talking about 3rd or 4th options here so Dez could be an option.
Golden Tate - Actually surprised he isn't employed right now. No injuries that I know of and he can still play!

    Thoughts?

John Brown looks like the only guy on that list that fits the Hamler role, but I also liked the way Seth Williams was coming along in camp. Not a "burner," but seemed like he has real all around potential.

I think that Spencer can offer some of the same benefits as Hamler in terms of holding safeties and forcing defenses to respect the speed. I like the idea of several of those guys to be honest.

Yeah... not good for us. Takes away a position of need and adds a beast to pair up with Mahomes.

Can we get Fulgham off Philly practice squad?

As bad as it is we are fine at WR as long as nobody else goes down. We have Sutton and Timmy P and they are monsters. We have Albert O and Fant which are just as good as most WR's . Both of our starting RB's can catch as well. It is not the perfect scenario, however we get JJ back in a few weeks. We don't need to waste anymore money on WR's that will just get cut next or later this year.

definitely John Brown fits the mold. We just need a guy to take the top off.

                  Not a bad thought.

I think they should sign the young all pro guy that doesn't want a lot of money and isn't on an active roster.

If the Broncos are going to poach a Eagles' PS receiver, I'd rather they opt for John Hightower. He is faster and a better vertical threat who can be used inside. TF is basically a duplicate position/utilization wise of who we already have.

good idea! However there are a couple of options on the PS. Wasn't a new guy brought on recently? I'll look it up.

Add: Rico Gafford. Don't know about him. Played at Wyoming. Was with faid listed as DB then WR. I

These guys are all old, there’s a reason none are on a roster. Pull up Seth Williams, check the other teams practice squads and wait a few weeks until Jeudy is back.

Only 25 years old at 6/2 with his speed he’d be a nice addition to the Broncos WR room.

Eeek! Only 10 receptions on 29 targets last year. Also seems like he drops a lot of passes. I’d rather just bring up Seth Williams.

Either way I don’t see neither being a bad move, we’ve got to get somebody with some speed in here in an attempt to replace with KJ brought to this offense.

I know he wasn’t exactly tearing it up out there but he was still keeping defenders honest.

Trade for Denzel Mims, the Jets are refusing to play him for some strange reason.

I did like him a lot coming out of college last year I thought he had the softest hands out of the entire group but I’m not so sure that would be an easy trade to make. How do you think the Broncos can get that done?

They’d probably want a 2nd, maybe get him for a 3rd. FWIW they said they aren’t going to trade him, though that’s probably a smokescreen.

Sorry I’m out of the loop when it comes to the Jets but is there a reason why they haven’t played him or have they even said anything?

No, Jets going Jet I guess. They said he’s been their best receiver in practice. New coaching staff, I’m guessing he quickly fell out of favor. I’m assuming they’re holding him out to trade him, which they’re denying, FWIW.

Offseason they will have to make WR a priority. IMO along with some others is Hamler will never be the same. Chiefs just did something about their WR woes. Hardman wasn’t scaring DCs
