  • Marshon Lattimore

The Saints are in salary cap hell right now 61 million over. Dream scenario is that we trade #9 for Lattimore and agree to eat all the contract in return for #18. They move up 9 spots in the draft and unload the entire contract. We move down 9 spots in the draft and solidify the CB position through 2026 with Lattimore and PS2 while maintaining a 1st round pick. I'd even be willing to throw in the Rams 3rd round pick to make it happen.

It might be a pipe dream but I doubt he's going to restructure his contract already especially now that Payton is gone.

Why wouldn't he restructure? It puts more money in his pocket now.

He certainly might restructure. But the Saints can't keep everybody with their cap situation. There will be some casualties.

Paton said CBs harder to find than QBs. So I’d assume saints will make it a priority to keep him through restructure.

If I had to guess, I'd say you're probably right. But again, they can't keep everybody.

We aren’t going to have our #9 this year. So there’s that.

I don't think they can put more money in his pocket. He's already got 68 million guaranteed and the restructure they would likely offer would be an extension of years to lighten the cap number.

Restructures usually convert the salary into a signing bonus, the signing bonus is usually paid to the player up front but spread over the life of the contract.

Yes but that's already a large contract and I don't think the saints have Jerry Jones money. If I was him I wouldn't accept any restructure unless all my guaranteed money was converted into a signing bonus and I got more guaranteed money added or the remaining 30 million of my contract was paid in a signing bonus and my guaranteed money wasn't touched but that would likely only lower his cap from 19 million to 15 million.

He knows what kind of situation the saints are in, Brees retired and Sean Payton is gone now. There will be multiple players cut or traded because of how far over the cap they are and the money they will want to convert into a signing bonus is money that he's already owed via the guaranteed money in his contract.

Loom is has no issue ponying up immediately and spreading it out. That’s why the Saints are in the cap situation they’re in now.

Considering there are like 4 players at the position that will be free agents it's going to happen one way or another. Callahan, Fuller, Hairston and Ford are all free agents so don't be surprised if we draft one in the 1st or 2nd round.

I don’t think this is a terrible idea or entirely unrealistic. Outside of us not addressing QB I love it.

Unless Pittsburgh trades up it would still keep us in front of them. Pickett, Willis and Corral might be gone by then but Ridder could very well still be there and as of right now he's my #2 QB in this class.

Another option is to ride with Lock one more year, draft Kenyon Green and throw him at RT.

I would guess that we take 2 CB’s, probably rounds 2 and maybe a size and speed prospect in round 5 or so.

                            Kyler Gordon and Jermaine Waller

I have seen everything since SB50.. Nothing surprises me anymore.
I am OK with CB in 2nd round. QB is a must in first round.
