  • 2021 Broncos regular season news & updates thread

Let's have a thread for news & updates, etc. for the 2021 regular season rather than a new thread each time.

I am shocked it is not a receiver such as Cleveland. I don't get this, but maybe there is something else going on?

Yep, just saw it. I know Surtain got burned on the TD, but Darby just may get "Wally Pipped", as they say.

And that folks is why you don’t try to trade CBs no matter how stacked you are.

Darby done for half the year now. Won’t be the last CB who goes down.

Not saying These injuries are direct result but across the league the turf fields just eat up player health all the time. Widespread data and studies show the risk for lower injuries is far greater on turf than grass.

yet they claim to be on the players side for safety but still allow turf after all the data collected over the last few years.

Interesting move that it isn't Cleveland or Seth Williams, but Hinton apparently impressed in camp. Good for him; he is easy to root for.

Supposedly Hinton plays more of the Jeudy role. Darby going down sucks. But I guess it was expected.

No freaking way! Don't need an entitled, arrogant, lying , diva in Denver.

As far as I can tell, no change. We'll have to wait to see if he practices tomorrow.

We lose two starters in one game to turf monster. Sad.

So Chubb, Jeudy & Darby. It’s on to week 2. Yikes.

Jacksonville's defense is absolute ass. Smart decision is to sit Chubb again this week. Dre'Mont Jones and Von Miller are going to destroy Jawaan Taylor.

They very well may. If he isn’t close to 100%, no reason to chance it. We’ll need him later when the schedule gets tougher.

Hey Req, what do you make of the fact that Sutton had 53 snaps(80%), but only 1 target & catch? Was he not getting open? Probably need the All 22 to answer that.
Or was it as simple that they wanted to kind of use him as a decoy, and let him run around on that knee, but limit how many times he has contact? If not true, very puzzling.

                                        He had three targets.

The first one was on 3-and-3 early in the first quarter when Teddy missed him deep down the left sideline. His second target (and only catch) was his post route from the inside of the formation [right side] on Denver's 4-and-3 conversion in the second quarter. That was a big play. His last target was the drive to start the third quarter on a short route from the left side that was a miss too. Right before Hamler's nice catch on Teddy's cross-body throw.

Overall, Bradberry did very well coverage on the boundary and kept his leverage/positioning tight against Sutton. Vertical routes on the boundary were a no-go for the entire game. And FWIW, I think that's going to be the case for most of the season.

Other guys got open better than he did. The routine coverage beaters and winners against the Giants seemed to on crossing and over routes, as well as plays high-pointing it and coming back in on/to the ball. Fant and Jeudy were (are) exceptional at the former (hence the conversion-rate and volume) with Patrick being money on hitch and in routes. The right decision (most plays, IMHO) definitely weren't forcing it to Sutton on the outside.

Long story short, I still don't think Courtland is 100-percent. I'm not worried yet, but it will be interesting to see how they use him (along with Hamler) since Jeudy's going to be out likely half the year. I would be surprised if we saw him revert back to 2019 form.

The studs upfront getting it done. I fully expect this to continue this week, as well.
