  • Broncos Tight Ends

    Trautman, Adam

    207 Yards 1 TD

    Dulcich, Greg

    411 2 TD

    MANHERTZ, CHRIS

    42 Yards

    Adkins, Nate -> Rookie

Why didn't we upgrade TE Position?

Good teams use TE's a lot.. we will struggle a lot in this area.

Very concerning that coach like Sean Payton ignored this position.

    Disappointing to say the least.

Because they like Dulcich and think he will improve, they added Trautman and Manhertz to balance out the blocking duties and give them a TE to help inline while Dulcich plays a big slot role.

Brandon Johnson is going to look like a baby Tim Patrick and Mims will start reminding people of E. Sanders.

Because TEs will actually be able to block.
Wilson needs to move to be good.
Trautman is going to primarily slow down or stop Edges and still be a dump off if needed. Dulcich is a pass catching TE and he could get big numbers because he can manhandle DBs and he can out run LBs.

Our RBs are possibly three of the best we could hope for... If Williams is back we are cooking. If he's half as deadly as he was before the injury, he'll still shed 2-3 dudes. If Perine is needed, he's already proven he can be a basher. And the rookie 3td string fella might be a missile himself.
They also get help if the TE can block.

Too early without any looks at what plays out to start freaking out over TEs.
At least freak out about the O-line or Wilson

The top-2 TEs on the depth chart are:

                1) 3rd-round pick [#3 TE in the 2020 draft according to NFL.com], 26 years old with 28 starts in 43 games;

Adam Trautman was a huge winner of the 2020 Senior Bowl and could be the top tight end off the board in the 2020 NFL Draft. It's rare to be talking ab...

2020 NFL Draft: Adam Trautman makes case to be TE1

by Sayre Bedinger 3 years ago

One player who has made a strong case for himself is none other than Dayton Flyers tight end Adam Trautman, who put on a show this past week at the Senior Bowl after a stellar college career.

Dane Brugler of The Athletic opined that Trautman’s week of practices at the Senior Bowl week was so strong that he might have put himself into the top 50 picks in the 2020 NFL Draft.

                2) 3rd-round pick [Daniel Jeremiah's #1 TE in the 2022 draft], 23-year old sophomore working his way up, trying to become a more complete TE.

Jeremiah compared Dulcich to former Pro Bowler Owen Daniels, who racked up 5,661 yards and 36 touchdowns in 10 NFL seasons, multiple times during the broadcast.

Dulcich, who appeared in the Reese's Senior bowl last month, entered Thursday as Jeremiahs' No. 1 tight end in the class. Sports Illustrated's NFL Draft Bible had Dulcich ranked at No. 3 for his position and NFL Network's Bucky Brooks slotted him in at No. 4.

How exactly do you see the position being ignored by Sean Payton? Two young TEs, 3rd-round picks at the top. Nate Adkins seems to be a UDFA hit.

Only a week left until the first game and everyone is concerned about the TEs? I’m more worried about the WRs on this team. 4 on the roster and only 3 of them are healthy. Sutton, Mims, and Johnson aren’t going to make a defensive coordinator lose sleep.

This!!!! You have to be worried that they only have 3 healthy WR's. Yes they have back ups and the PS, but to only go into the first game with 3, that's crazy......

It's going to be ok cause The Athletic mocked us taking Brock Bowers next year. 💪

                  3. Denver Broncos: Brock Bowers, TE, Georgia

                  Projected wins: 8.2

Positional value and projected team needs are the only reasons Bowers falls out of the top 10 in this mock draft. And sending him to a play caller like Sean Payton is too good an opportunity to pass on.
Bowers is like a 6-4, 240-pound Cooper Kupp — he’s way too talented to be guarded by even a defense’s best safety, linebacker or slot corner. He creates more offense after the catch than you’d expect of a tight end and has the potential to run a full route tree. He won’t be a total bully in the run game, but he’s good enough to stay on the field for all three downs.

That's the reason pass catching TE is important..

We really are breeding divas around here lately.

TEs work well when the run game is humming and the other receivers are a true threat. Once you see someone like Sutton (hopefully) playing well enough to get double teamed, even an average TE should feast.

I’ll always say that Kelce is the heart and soul of the KC offense, but even Big Andy sets up Kelce with a committed run game. Once the run game is a threat, LBs and Safeties have to commit (or play lots of Zone) and it opens everything else up.

Our TE room is just fine if the rest of the offense is clicking. From the group, I expect about 1,400 yards and 10 TDs.

Should be noted that on a yards per game basis, Dulcich was a top 10 TE as a rookie.

Agree completely. For some reason, fans and even some media have completely ignored that Payton and the FO have said/telegraphed that we will be a run first team. That will set up everything else.

I know that too many of the fan base has been jaded because of the past bozos that have coached offense for this team the past handful of years, but Payton is not them. He’s a proven top HC and offensive mind. He doesn’t always do things that other coaches do because if he did, he would be just like them—mediocre or worst.

Another homer gold thread going after the messenger with the responses.

insane multiple posters think Dulcich would’ve even been healthy enough to stay on ANY field. Glass is glass.

Only Paton and the broncos would rely on an injury prone TE who us realistic folks know would be injured. The UCLA dirt didn’t even make out the first game.

all while dumping TE depth for the sake of blocking….this team doesn’t need blocking TEs. What are they going to do..give Wilson more time to throw it sideways for 4 yards?

I hope I never have to see Adam Trautman in critical game situations again, but sadly, this roster is trash, so I look forward to many more chances to watch him drop like he's been shot after initial contact from a 190 pound CB.
