The first to fall is a local kid. I think Dave Logan coached him.

The Broncos are picking 5th in the waiver wire and Sean Payton said there are some areas of the roster with hot spots when it comes to potentially adding players cut from other teams. Where I think they might take advantage of the waiver system:
3rd QB - DiNucci reportedly had a good camp, but Stidham looks safe as the backup and DiNucci will be compared to the QBs becoming available.
G - the Broncos might be able to claim a guard to replace one of the backups among Kyle Fuller, Quinn Bailey, Will Sheman and UDFA Henry Byrd. This position should be one of the hot spots in need of a strong backup option based on Ben Powers' performance.
TE - at first glance a waiver claim at TE might look unlikely, but I'm considering that Sean Payton is shopping Albert O based on the 3rd preseason game and Chris Manhertz has not been healthy, so I don't think that adding a traditional TE with blocking skills is out of the question.
WR - Payton will probably keep at least 6 WRs and the 6th spot might go to someone claimed on waivers. It would not surprise me if Jeudy goes straight to IR after the initial 53, opening a spot for another WR - a FA/released veteran or a WR that went unclaimed.
DL - The backup defensive linemen are not exactly household names and Jonathan Harris is currently listed as a starter. If the Broncos carry 6 DL, one could be an addition through waivers.
CB - After Surtain, Mathis, K. Williams, Bassey and Moss, there's a question mark. Is McMillian in as the 6th corner? Williams is often injured and Moss also has not played. Cutting Fabian Moreau would create only $350,000 of dead money. Maybe the Broncos will put a claim on a CB as insurance.
K - It's looking like Maher will enter week 1 as the kicker, but we know the Broncos are monitoring the kicking competitions around the league. I don't see a trade for a kicker, not even for Lutz, but a waiver claim is very realistic.

Personally, unless someone were to offer us a 4th or better—they won’t— then just keep him. With Jeudy out for a couple of games, he and Dulchich just became that more valuable.Comment

I don't, but he was not only playing late into the 4th quarter Saturday, but also getting plenty of targets, gaining visibility - a sign that Payton was showcasing him for a draft pick. Personally, I'd keep Albert O.👍 1Comment

Why do you assume he wants to shop him. He can speak for himself, but after Saturday night, it is a real possibility that he was being shopped.

Tremon Smith sucked balls in preseason, but was given $1.4 mil upfront & guaranteed $1.1 mil in salary, so how much does that matter?

And maybe the Broncos should just cut K'Williams too. $785,000 in dead money, $2,100,000 in cap savings, good player but can't stay on the field just like Bryce Callahan. Find someone who won't live in the training room.Comment

Who said Jeudy was out a couple games? It said 2 weeks! The season isn’t until two weeks…… he’d been resting that minor hamstring tweak for like 15-16 days before week one. Jeudy is likely starting week one vs Oakland easy…. Your talking bout 2 games? That would mean a young man with a minor tweak needs 4-5 weeks to come back from? I doubt it youngins heal pretty fast I doubt he needs 4-5 weeksComment

Worst part of Williams' injury is that slot corner duties might fall to Essang Bassey, and all pre-season I've noticed Bassey gives too much cushion for a slot corner. Slot patterns develop fast, and you gotta be right up on them (Chris Harris was the best). Two of Bassey's INTs, the one vs Arizona for sure, were receiver slips.Comment
