  • Mike Purcell restructures deal, is ACTIVATED

    Great news ...
Once fully ramped up, Purcell will provide an early-down run-stuffing presence at the center of Vance Joseph's defense. He appeared in all 17 games (four starts) last season despite lingering injuries, notching 21 solo tackles, four quarterback hits, 1.5 sacks, and one fumble recovery. Pro Football Focus ranked Purcell as the No. 42 interior defender among 127 qualifiers.

I guess this story wasn't new ... just noticed it broke at 4 pm Wednesday ... but I didn't post this thread until about 7:30 am.

Can't figure out how to delete this thread...

The defense might be decent, but in the NFL you need to be able to score more that 13 points a game to win. If your offense can't throw up 20-30 points you are destined to be beaten.

He plays physically, I like him. We might be decent on defense this year.

I hope he can keep Wilson in line like last year.

I'm glad this happened, because PJ Mustipher... is a nope. That guy is just fat, slow, and will take a year or two of dedication to be ready for the NFL. Purcell gives full effort, gotta love that.

I know it was only preseason but it seemed like we had a lot of 3 man D-Line with 4 LB's going on. I could be wrong but I think we were dropping a Safety to get an 8th man in the box. Having a decent NT helps out a lot if that's what we're going to do.

I'm glad it happened too, cause I was starting to concoct scenarios in my head, day-dreaming that somehow we could find a way to sign Chris Jones.

              Can’t sign him, he’s not a FA.

Good job George Paton we needed him to do that! Dude hasn’t lived up to the deal we gave him. Mainly due to injuries but nonetheless
