Bill Cowher and Dick Vermeil getting in before Shanahan is a travesty of justice.

      East coast bias is real.

Mike Shanahan is awesome. Met him at his restaurant a few years back, and he was beyond kind and gracious. 👍🏻 I always felt like Shanahan got a bit of a raw deal from the Broncos there at the end. Shanahan the GM ought to have been canned IMO, but not Shanahan the coach. The day he was fired and then replaced with McDaniels was one of my saddest days as a Broncos fan, and I’m sure that probably wound up being one of Pat Bowlen’s biggest regrets as well.

One of his statements during that press conference has always stuck with me, though: “tough times don’t last, but tough people do.” Even at the worst times Mike had a good outlook and attitude. He’s a freaking legend as far as I’m concerned, and deserves to be in the Hall as much as anyone (and Bowlen too 😎).

Well, they knew if they didn’t let Vermeil in, he would just start crying about it, and no one wanted to go through all that again. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Arrgghhh, yeah. Probably an even greater regret than the old standby regret: Ed Reed.

Not as much of a regret as letting the GOAT Sloter go, though. 😜

Shanahan should be in based on the standard set by the admission of some other coaches (BowlenBall mentioned Cowherd and Vermeil).

The Hall has definitely lowered it's standards for enshrinement the past couple decades, so much so that Deion Sanders and a few others are pressing the Hall to add an "Upper Room" for the cream of the cream (link).

I don't bang the "East Coast Bias" drum anymore, but I think both Randy Gradishar and Karl Mecklenburg deserve enshrinement too.

It’s criminal that it took both Atwater and TD so long to get in. 🤷🏼‍♂️

It's after 6:30 pm in Canton, and still no word from the committees. Don't they make announcements? Issue a press release?

Should point out that in addition to Mike Shanahan, the list of "Coach/Contributor" semi-finalists includes Dan Reeves and Robert Kraft.

Plus, Randy Gradishar is a semifinalist on the Seniors Committee list.

Robert Kraft? Ffft. He got lucky. His only HOF list should be in relation to his patronage of Asian rub n’ tug parlors. 👍🏻

As mad as I was with Shanahan when he left Denver, he deserves to get in. He deserved to last year. But Gradishar had better be the one for sure.

Too bad Epstein's gone, he could induct him.

Classic ..... unfortunately, nobody's gonna march out on the balcony in St. Peters Square. Not for another 6 months at least.

Okay, I think maybe I misunderstood the Hall's procedural calendar .........

YES, the Coach/Contributor and Senior committees did meet today, and they did vote. But it looks like the results of those votes won't be announced until Super Bowl weekend six months from now.

                            Sorry ... 🙄

Plus, as I was just reading the bios of some of the enshrined coaches, it doesn't seem like their coordinator histories are included. But I included Mike's OC highlights above because I knew Dick Lebeau was in the Hall ... but I guess he got in as a player. Too bad, Mike's OC history is great.

                            _____________

If I got your hopes up, then let you down, just ask and I'll tell you a good story about Mike's 1st year in the NFL - his 1st year in Denver. I worked in Broncos Media Relations his first couple years. 😁

I borrowed my friend's Steelers Starter Jacket for a recess back in 4th grade. The Committee just got back to me and told me I'm a finalist.
