I’m already on record that I never wanted Payton hired in the first place. He’s fool’s gold. Doesn’t help he inherited a shit roster as our crap GM watches from the catbird’s seat.Comment

I personally love that he kept the starters out there until they scored points. I thought it was an accountability statement that should pay off big. Preseason is about getting comfortable with the system, getting plays in time, making substitutions, avoiding stupid procedural errors. I feel like that stupid stuff won’t follow us into the season like it obviously did last year.
Not sure why the hell the Cardinals kept sending 7 on blitzes all night, but that will definitely confound an offense just looking to make plays and build a rhythm.
Anyway, I’m still bullish on Payton. He still feels like the right guy for this team. Let’s see if he can coax a Drew Brees(ish) “act two” from Russell Wilson. They made some good tape, so we’ll see how the coaches do their job to fix errors.Comment

Didn’t see the game, but am on board with your pre-season comments 100%. It’s the time to tinker and experiment, find out what works and what doesn’t. People always overreact. I remember one year the Raiders were undefeated in the pre-season and lots of people were like, “watch out! They’re back!!!!” Then they were shite again as always. 😂
The only pre-season game which is worth putting much stock in is the 3rd one, since all of the starters usually play. But even then, it’s not the same as live bullets in a game that counts, so still best taken with a fairly large grain of salt IMO. 🤷🏼♂️Comment
