              Basketball is different because they have fewer players to pay, but I agree. Look at baseball players like Rendon on the Angels. 30 million a year and he barely ever plays and hasn't done crap since signing.

              Mahomes is now the 8th highest paid QB, and he’ll drop to 9th when Burrow gets his new deal. Ridiculous.

                                                                  Just predicting what the Jones contract will come in at....probalby around 28.5 to 29.5 I don't think he'll quite break Donalds APY, but it will be close. And the up front money will be huge. Plus....it's not like he's holding out the tag here...he's do to make 19.5 in cash on the deal he's playing on now.....so it's a game of chicken of Jones holding out and taking fines, and not getting a huge check VS the Chiefs moving on into the season without Jones at the position they have the least depth at. I would suspsect something will get done before preseason week 1.

                                                                          Florio does seem to have an agenda on this subject for some reason. That said, he’s not wrong. The best player in the league should not have 8 guys at his position making more money than him. That has nothing to do with “greed”. It’s about what he’s worth.

                                                                              As to why he signed such a long contract... they obviously didn't see these increases coming. Short sighted.

                                                                              But I'm sure he'll leverage his status into more pay soon either way.

He's earning generational wealth regardless and wants to go down a legend. We should be so lucky as Broncos fans.

Michael Jordan famously demanded and got a massive catch up contract from Chicago as soon as it was possible to do so, and nobody cared about winning championships more than him. Mahomes is certainly an alpha on the field, but his contract is certainly not an alpha contract. And accepting below market, team friendly contracts isn’t good for other players. This is their livelihood, and not every player makes enough money to be comfortable for the rest of their lives. All that said, if you’re a KC fan of course you love it!

                                                                                                  Not every player. But it's safe to say that players on 500 million dollar deals with $40 mil/year in endorsements will be okay. I think he and his family will survive.

                                                                                                  I'll bet he and Brady are really concerned that they're not on your "alpha" list though. 😂
