  • OT: Billings Cabins

Hello out there, headed up to Billings in July, any good campgrounds with a cabin or airbnb anybody suggests?

  • #2
Thought most of the campgrounds near that area were kind of cruddy when I was there a few years back. I'd look into AirBNB options if you want a better getaway and have more options. Any campground or state park near there with cabin reservations are probably booked up.

Side note: Tiny's Tavern is a great place to eat. Lots of Broncos stuff there. Highly recommend.

That was quite a bit farther west in the Lincoln, Montana area. Itโ€™s closer to Helena.

The KOA there is actually pretty nice. Not cheap. But nice. Not sure about the cabins.

Thatโ€™s cool. Just anytime I hear the words โ€œcabinโ€ and โ€œMontanaโ€ used in the same sentence, I get a little concerned. ๐Ÿ˜ณ๐Ÿ˜œ

I lived in Billings for years! Born and raised MT.

Whatโ€™s the goal of the trip, maybe I canโ€™t point you in the right direction?

Phenomenal micro brew scene there. Before microbrews were cool Billings had about 5-6 great ones.

Make sure to give yourself enough time in Grand Teton. Less of a rat race than Yellowstone (in summer anyway)

A couple places rent canoes/kayaks to paddle out on Jackson Lake. Once in a lifetime experience. If the weather's good and the water's smooth.

If you are heading to Billings by taking the Scenic Route and going through 212 there are some cool hikes in Custer Gallatin National Forest outside of Red Lodge. Might be worth a pitstop. Enjoy your trip. I'm hoping to get to Yellowstone / Tetons sometime in the future. Looks amazing.

Or I guess I misread that and you already visited Jackson. Not this time.

Or if you want something more upscale the dinner cruise out of Colter Bay is fun. No booze though. At least not when we did it quite a few years ago.
