  • Bible: In the Last days you will see…

The Bible has predicted much of what we see today.

    2 Timothy 3:1-5

But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people.

    2 Peter 3:3-4 ESV

Knowing this first of all, that scoffers will come in the last days with scoffing, following their own sinful desires. They will say, “Where is the promise of his coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all things are continuing as they were from the beginning of creation.”

      Matthew 24:42-44

Therefore, stay awake, for you do not know on what day your Lord is coming. But know this, that if the master of the house had known in what part of the night the thief was coming, he would have stayed awake and would not have let his house be broken into. Therefore you also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.

Absolutely. Mathew 24 Jesus told us what generation would see his return. Fig Tree…

It seems that every generation since the Resurrection has believed this... my take is this: the Bible says "no man knows the day or the hour". And that's good enough for me.

I’d suggest reading all of Matthew 24 & 25. While we don’t know the day and hour as believers we are expected to know the season and generation.

The verse you quoted is 36. Look what precedes it. Context.

                      Matthew 24

32 “Now learn this lesson from the fig tree: As soon as its twigs get tender and its leaves come out, you know that summer is near. 33 Even so, when you see all these things, you know that it[e] is near, right at the door. 34 Truly I tell you, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened. 35 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.

later a warning in the same passage for not watching properly:

48 But suppose that servant is wicked and says to himself, ‘My master is staying away a long time,’ 49 and he then begins to beat his fellow servants and to eat and drink with drunkards. 50 The master of that servant will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour he is not aware of. 51 He will cut him to pieces and assign him a place with the hypocrites, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

And chapter 25 is the parable of the wise vs unwise virgins. The wise were on watch, the unwise were left behind.

It’s clear we don’t know the day or hour. It is clear we know the season and generation and need to stand a diligent watch.

The message is that believers are expected to always be prepared as if it were happening right now. Time is irrelevant to God. Christians are expected to always put God first and love others.

Day and hour no man knows, only the Father. If our Heavenly Father knows the day and hour, that’s a time reference. We live in the time construct. God is love. He loves us and time is relevant to us. Jesus directly gave us the generation to know His return. The Apostles had just asked Him the question, so the answer is there in Matthew 24.

I have no need to speculate or fear. I have a personal relationship with Jesus. Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. My eternity is already set. Your could be too Zero. John 3:16.

We all live out our truth claims. Death is the arbiter. My answer is Jesus.
