Love what he's done for our team, but this team needs a fresh overhaul.

I betcha he looks at the calendar and signs with a team we will be playing this year - book it!

Dude was way to full of himself. It's one thing to be that way, but then you go and blow it. It was time.

You edited your post but still didn't fix "to"? So what was the edit, "blew"?

Couldn’t kick 64 yards at sea level in Seattle!

Interesting. This is a decision that can backfire just like the release of the punter last season. McManus' salary was ranked 8th among kickers and there is no clear replacement available, certainly not an upgrade. Mason Crosby probably is the most notorious kicker available and he only hit 1-of-4 from 50+ last season. What are they going to do? Sign 40-year old Robbie Gould? Brett Maher who missed 4 extra points in one game? I hope they know what they're doing.

He was our offense last season.... it was fun guessing how many field goals we'd tally each week tho....

clear upgrade IMO.. a guy that can kick, but also play ironman at the pro level.... at a team friendly contract so they can build a winner..

Seems weird. I don't understand the point. He had a $4.9 mil cap hit but a $2.4 mil dead cap?

                    Now you're looking for a kicker 🤷‍♂️

No field goals, no kicking extra points.

We are going for it every 4th down and running 2 point conversions. Strap on your helmets boys!

I think since they used a post-June 1st designation they save like $3.7M and eat the rest in dead money.

Seems like he made a lot of long Field Goals. Maybe I'm wrong, I don't know, I haven't gone back and checked his stats against other kickers. I don't see the need to do this.

its always seems like a good idea to release an expensive kicker until you have to find another kicker. this is the same shit they did to sam martin.

New rule changes means basically no more kick returns ever so no more kickers. I say go for two every time. Lets change the league.

I mean I thought he’d be gone this offseason, but I kind of thought we’d have a replacement first.

I think it's more of a , he threw a fit to do it and then blew it. He did that twice last year. He is now a good kicker, not a great kicker.

McManus was great in the SB 50 playoff run (10 for 10). I'll always thank him for that.

But he was no Prater and no Jason Elam (Brandon wasn't as consistent). His sideline outrage with Fangio when Vic wouldn't let him try a long field goal at the half of one game sealed his fate if Peyton knew about that.

I still don't understand why we didn't go after a kicker after the draft. I wanted Dunn from NC St.
Oh well, he needed to be moved on from either way.

Right, particularly if you’re planning to make this move.

I assume there is a plan in place with this move having been made. It likely wasn't spur of the moment. It just looks crazy on paper right now because you didn't sign a UDFA kicker.

McManus is at worst an average kicker. This move most likely means going with a below average kicker. If this team was tanking it would possibly make some sense to go cheap here, but with Wilson and the money they spent in FA they aren’t tanking. So unless they have someone they really like in mind, this seems dumb on the surface.
