  • Javonte Williams: Ready by Training Camp

    This is great f'n news!!!!

  • #2
“If a player’s not ready at the start of training camp, he goes to PUP,” Broncos coach Sean Payton said, referring to the physically-unable-to-perform list. “We’re hopeful that he’s someone that might not have to go to PUP. So, that’s good news.”
“And I don’t want to speak for him or [Beau Lowery] or anyone else, but we get the daily reports,” Payton said. “And look, we’re pretty tight-lipped relative to information going out, but, I’ve read a lot. But I think his rehab’s going well.”

Absolutely absurd to rush him, he should miss at least the first 6 weeks of the season.

a smart franchise would bring him back after the week 9 bye.

A setback early likely ruins his career.

its unfathomable at Williams age that this is the plan.

        no reason for this….

Yeah but it wasn't a simple clean tear. Normal clean tear is about 8 months and you're good. The extra structural damage that was reported is why so many felt a PUP list stint was likely.

You haven’t heard of JK Dobbins?

Baltimore Ravens running back J.K. Dobbins tore his ACL and LCL during preseason in 2021, and he wasn’t able to return until Week 3 in 2022. He then played in four games before having to sit out an additional five games due to complications.

Within we examine the specific injury that Javonte tragically suffered, and outline why it may be better to sell while there's still time.

I've heard of Sean Payton and he just said they expect homeboy to be ready for start of camp.

Yeah, he might be out there but he won’t be the same. Look at Hamler this year. Just not the same player.

just having him play spot duty this year would be a big win. Averaging 10 runs a game this year would be a big win. Managing expectations is important.

Athletes recover differently. Some Surgeons are better than others. Some players rehab at a different level. Dobbins & Javonte did not have same diagnosis.

Dobbins said he tore his ACL, LCL, hamstring and meniscus. Hate on this post as much as you want, but trying to rehab like Dobbins knee injury had to be tough with torn hamstring.

Javonte may never be the same but 85% of him is a beast & now has a rotational back that doesn't fumble every 7 touches.

Payton doesn’t have a history of blowing smoke up the media/fans ass; just the opposite, in fact. I’m kind of surprised he said this much about it, tbh. So, they must have gotten really good news.

That’s the last thing coach Payton is doing is blowing smoke yo the media ass, he don’t play no games with the media he’s from that bill parcells Tree and you can see it

when Dobbins did play he averaged 5.7 ypc and 65 yards a game.

yeah how do you rehab anything with a torn hamstring. must have delayed the timeline significantly

its really a pipe dream that Javontee will ever play again.

He said there’s a “good chance” he didn’t say that he’d definitely be ready or 100% so why the hell are you guys freaking out

I think because we like him. He's good. And we're hoping for the best recovery possible.

Right. And to be more specific, he said “hopefully, he won’t be put on the PUP to start Camp”. That doesn’t mean he’ll be taking 15 carries day 1, it just means that maybe he can be on the active roster day 1, and get eased in. Maybe. Nothing wrong with being optimistic over that.

Except, Dobbins also had to end up having a 2nd knee surgery to remove scar tissue from the previous ACL tear surgery. Mind you, the Ravens were not initially happy about that 3rd surgery and were not exactly on board with it.

Javonte tore his ACL, LCL and PLC. It wasn't just a pure ACL tear. Broncos fans commenting on his injury and claiming they don't understand the time line doubt, aren't fully grasping that he tore 3 ligaments in the knee, not 1.

I think you need to google how to spell his 1st name & also what referring a situation to a "pipe dream" is. It's 2023, not a Bo Jackson or Terrell Davis era.

Hard to fathom that Williams will be the same player coming back from this injury based on his running style. A major tear of three ligaments is tough for any player, nonetheless, a running back. Broncos need a bell cow.
