Honestly, in typical Ted Lasso fashion its a tortured metaphor that goes on and on. But yeah, its there.

I saw it last night, it was hilarious. Actually, the best part of the scene was right after this when (Jamie Tartt?) said "what the f*ck is a Broncos?" in a heavy Manchester accent. That line was gold!
Also, for those that won't understand the reference. Ted Lasso is from Kansas City. He had a friend that was a long time Broncos fan, which obviously alienated his friend living in KC. So, his friend went through all sorts of ups and downs "alone." When the Broncos were winning back to back Superbowls, Ted recognized that he wasn't being a very good friend, and accepted his buddy for being a Broncos fan and hung out with him to celebrate. Thats where the gay thing came in - the player on the clip was just announcing he was gay - and Ted was encouraging the other players to drop the pretense and just be friends with their friend, regardless of who he was.
Context. BOOM!

Yeah, context does matter. Which is why it is important to remember that the character of Ted Lasso is likely a KC fan when he calls the Broncos a garbage ass team winning back to back superbowls. Even fictional KC fans are still raw over the dominance of those teams close to 3 decades later.

I would argue that season 3 is much better. Its not going to re-capture the lightning in the bottle that was the first season. But it feels more focused, like they actually had a better idea of what their season long arcs were meant to be. (The exception being Keely's arc, which really feels like it belongs in a spin off TV show instead of Ted Lasso.)

Jason S is a Chiefs fan and from a story perspective, the context has been covered.
However, from a show writing perspective and I am going to say these things, the show said:
The B2B Denver Broncos were a trash team.
Bronco Fans destroy toilets from eating
Bronco Fans are lonely and live on their momma's basements

To address your three points,
There is a strange amount of vitriol from fanbases against the 97-98 Broncos among our Rivals. The 2015 Broncos are largely seen as a fitting last ride for Peyton, but Chiefs and Raiders fans are still mad about that B2B superbowl squad.
Yeah, the toilet joke is completely a dig at Broncos fans.
I don't think his friend was lonely, just isolated in his fandom. And given the ages of the character, he would have been between 15 and 18 years old during superbowl XXXII and XXXIII. So, living in his parent's basement seems pretty normal for that age.

There is a slight distinction there. Either way, I think the Broncos are one of the most cited teams in media like that.
Simpsons - Several times
South Park - Many Times
Now Ted Lasso
Mork and Mindy - Mork was a DB Cheerleader
Back to the Future - Clock in the opening credits
Everybody's All-American
And there is more, I just can't remember.
