  • 1st Round QB's 2023

How do you see it playing out? I posted a mock I did a while back in the draft section...had them in this order

    1. Bryce Young
    2. Anthony Richardson
    3. Will Levis
    4. CJ Stroud

I don't have Hooker in round 1..but he'd be 5th as of today.

I think Bryce Young will be very good.

I think Richardson is going to ultimately be pretty good.

I think Levis will be decent if he has a line in front of him.

I think Stroud is a BUST...and I've said so from the beginning. Anyone read the latest about him?

    Bombed the S2
    Ghosted Manning passing academy
reportedly hard to coach. ...which makes some sense...he's been with a great line and NFL recievers...he just has had to chuck it to whoever. And the Ohio State 1 read offense...no thanks.

    How I have them ranked
    1.Bryce Young
    2.CJ Stroud
    3.Hendon Hooker
    4.Anthony Richardson
    5.Will Levis

How I think they get drafted
    1.Bryce Young - #1
    2.CJ Stroud - #2
    3.Anthony Richardson - #3
    4.Will Levis - #4
    5.Hendon Hooker - Top 12

Stroud's issue is going to be needing a clean pocket in the interior. If it's clean he will murder you. If you disrupt it, he will turtle and get frustrated.
With that said, it's essentially the same issue that NE exploited with Manning in Indy. Pressure up the middle of the pocket, disrupt the timing of the WR's routes and force him to win. That's not the worst problem to have.

I can't get over Young's slight frame. It's hard for me seeing him lasting once the hits start to accumulate.

How I predict they will be drafted (very uncertain after Young).

        First Round:
        1. Young
        2. Stroud
        3. Levis
        4. Richardson (I really like this guy)

Second or maybe even Third Round:
        5. Hooker

He's been one of the best players in the SEC for years. He is a smart player and knows how not to get hit. I wouldn't worry about his frame.

I really think Young is going to be good. I feel confident in saying that he will put in the work, he's another guy who loves and lives football, is mature and will be a great face of a franchise.....and he's a good QB who if not for being small....has all the other traits you want.

I hate to try and predict Richardson. Just as a raw dude who really hasn't done much with great tools so far...he reminds me some of Josh Allen, but I don't like that comparison because Allen had played so little organized high level football. He seems like a Tebow with a chance to be better is about where I am with it, and he'll need a spot with patient coaches and ownership. I think Atlanta would be a good landing spot, because they are a run heavy team that could ease him into a playbook. At any rate, I see him as caring and giving the effort at least...

Levis....I dont' have strong feelings about. Anytime you have a guy with an arm...you've got a foundation there, but it bothers me he couldn't elevate his teamates this past season. If I 'm the Titans...I really strongly consider it because they are in a bad spot at QB....and if doesn't work fine..you blow it up anyway.

Stroud is almost 5th on my list..and the only reason I don't put Hooker ahead is because that dude is also coming from a 1 read offense. I have ZERO confidence in Stroud. He has always struck me as a guy who hasn't been challenged..can't read or hasn't been asked to read defenses, and has benefitted immensely behind a top 3 college line with probalby the best crop of NFL talent at WR during his tenure that just about any college QB has ever played with. To me he comes off as immature and won't take to coaching well both because he's arrogant about his talent and he isn't that smart.

SEC ain’t shit compared to the NFL. Bryce Young won’t make it to a second contract.

                @190 lbs he won’t last.

Richardson has 1 year as a starter and only completed 52% of his passes. There’s no blueprint or track record of that ever succeeding in the NFL. He shouldn’t even be drafted in the first round.

He was the same weight as Russ at the Combine. So if he's 204 at the combine and adds 10-15 lbs like Russ, why would he not last?
He doesn't take bad hits, he's not a massive runner and even in the pocket he's smart when he takes hits.

Young is the real deal but it depends on who drafts him. If he lands with a team with a hc or oc like Gary kubiak who refuses to adapt and is stuck in the past he’s gonna bust.

BS. 204? That’s not his playing weight. He put the weight on for the combine. It is the reason he refused to weigh in on his pro-day.
he doesn’t have the body frame of Russ. Russ is short and stocky. Young is short and boney. He doesn’t have the body frame to carry 10-15 more pounds.
he’ll take bad hits in the NFL, he doesn’t have LJ or KM type speed.

Russ played at lighter than 204 at NC St. He was playing baseball as well as FB. Young's frame is fine to hold more weight. You are running with some weird narrative.
Aside from Maye and Manning, a good portion of the next vaunted QB's are going to be around 200-205 lbs. Very similar builds to Young. At some point, people are going to have to get over the notion that you have to be 6-2 225 to be a NFL QB.

                            200-205 IS NOT YOUNGS BUILD.
Again there’s a reason he refused to weigh in on his pro day.
you don’t have to be 6’2 225 but you have to be bigger then the team’s kicker.

5’10 190 isn’t going to make it in the NFL.

IDK..if they keep calling the super soft roughing penalties, 5'10 190 might work out all right.
