Mac Jones trade rumors: Patriots reportedly shopping QB, plus five logical landing spots
5. Broncos
They're tied to Russell Wilson through 2023 (and would have to eat lots of money to dump him in 2024), but new coach Sean Payton has already hinted that new No. 2 Jarrett Stidham is a candidate for future starting reps. Why wouldn't he unturn every stone as he looks to revive the franchise, especially considering he was admittedly high on Jones as a prospect while coaching the Saints? Stylistically, the QB's short-area efficiency is at least a little reminiscent of Drew Brees.
"I think positive, really positive," Payton told reporters Wednesday. "He was someone that we were really high on. I think he processes information fast. At Alabama if you watch closely his tape, the ball comes out, decisions are made fast. I think he sees the field horizontally as well as vertically well. He has the arm to make the throws that you want.
"His decision-making and processing are where I felt were really strong suits with him and I think he's handling it well. It's not easy to all of a sudden come in and start week one as a rookie, but he's a smart player."
"But, and I've had this confirmed to me by two teams, they were trying to get up above New England to get Mac Jones. I don't think there's any doubt about that. Everybody will deny it. I'm just telling you. They couldn't get there. Why? Because Minnesota traded with the Jets (to No. 14) and Minnesota didn't go back as far as New Orleans, and (the Vikings) got a good deal. No. 13 wasn't moving because (Rashawn) Slater was there, and the Chargers weren't going to move. No. 12 wasn't moving because Dallas was going to take (Micah) Parsons. No. 11 became (Justin) Fields. So, there was nowhere for (the Saints) to go. I don't know if the Saints called New England to try to trade for that pick or if they knew New England was going to just take Mac Jones."

Jay Glazer shares Sean Payton's thoughts on Patriots QB Mac Jones
It’s no secret that the New Orleans Saints liked Mac Jones in this year’s NFL draft. And it’s well known that FOX Sports’ Jay Glazer is a close friend and the preferred media megaphone of Sean Payton, so he shared Payton’s insight on the young New England Patriots quarterback during the FOX NFL Sunday pregame show.
Glazer related an early-morning conversation with Payton about the rookie quarterback class, having asked the Saints coach which first-year passer was most likely to be a bust — to which Payton respond, “Not Mac Jones.”
Glazer continued, quoting Payton’s message: “I loved him coming out, but as I saw him on film this week he makes really fast decisions, he’s hard for us to sack as a young quarterback, but it’s also gonna be hard for us to bait him into rookie mistakes.”

Very affordable contract. Would be able to work around Wilson's monster contract if Payton wants to move on.
Mac Jones under contract for 2 more years:
'23 4.2 million
'24 4.9 million
'25 5th year option

you missed the entire point of the post. No surprise. Here let me explain it :
I insinuated broncos don’t value drafts picks as much when Paton is in charge BECAUSE THEY HAVE TRADED AWAY SEVERAL SINCE HE BECAME GM.
It’s a ****ing joke vabber.Last edited by The1percentKid; 04-08-2023, 11:03 AM.

Belicheat has pissed off his QB by forcing him to work with a defensive coordinator last year, and now he wants rid of him? It’s the players fault?
The Jones to Broncos talk is pure conjecture because Payton loved him coming out. It’s a little too late now to get him even if Payton wanted him. We aren’t paying Stidham $5 mil & Jones $4 mil to be backups this year.

Fields or Lance would have been closer to reality than Mahomes
of course GMs talk all the time. who might be available
im not sure BB is convinced Jones is that much better than Zappe and if someone offered a first might reset the team again
