Just when you don't think you can possibly appreicate the Chiefs any more than I already do....you turn on the Royals in April and magically find there, you infact can appreciate the Chiefs even more.

This baseball season in going to SUCK.

Also, it would NOT suprise me if whisperings start coming out that the Royals could be a relocation candidate.

Not yet...but they got new owners a couple years ago, and thye've made no secret at all about wanting a new downtown stadium. ....KC will probably make that happen...I'd say it's a 65% chance they get something done with the taxpayers to build something downtown, but I would NOT say it's a lock. There are a TON of folks who love Kaufman Stadium. Even though it's old, it was a revolutionary design at the time it was built and it has more than withstood the test of time. The taxpayers will really struggle with the idea that his facility needs to be replaced. In a vacuum, there's nothing wrong with it. I love seeing games there myself, even when the team sucks....but the owners, understandably see baseball is a sport that relies very heavily on local stadium revenue and they believe a downtown stadium will generate more. (I'm not so sure after a year or maybe 2, if the team sucks)

Once we get to the part where the voters gotta decide, the rumors of Charlotte, or Vegas will be put out there.

the K is a great damn stadium. old, sure, but great. really enjoyed watching a few games there.

It's not an imminent threat. Oakland and Tampa Bay have been stuck in far worst stadium situations for a decade-plus and they are still playing in their current dumps. Since 1973, only one Major League Baseball has relocated, the Montreal Expos. The Expos were averaging 5,000 fans before the move to Washington D.C.

It's going to take a lot for MLB to leave the city that houses the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum.

The only team I really think will get relocated would be Oakland. That's simply because Oakland keeps allowing teams to leave. I wish that rumored San Jose move had worked out for the A's a few years ago.

Even Manfred has said the move to Las Vegas will likely happen.

Oakland has made the most progress with the A's, compared to the Raiders and Warriors. The A's are going to pay out of pocket for a ballpark on the water in Howard Terminal in downtown Oakland, but now the infrastructure costs are holding it up and will likely sink the project.

I remember the paying out of their pocket part but I always thought the latter parts of the project would sink it.

Thanks. ActuallY, that's the perfect example of how baseball is different than football. Because if baseball was like football, Verlander to the Mets would be like Peyton Manning leaving Indy and signing with Denver.

Or I guess he already did that when he went to the Astros.

Major NFL transactions have more of a national news buzz, I agree.

Verlander also signed with the Mets within a five-day time period that included Jacob deGrom to the Rangers, Trea Turner to the Phillies, Aaron Judge resigning with the Yankees, Xander Bogaerts to the Padres and Carlos Correa to the Giants (which fell apart).

The A's also had another stadium deal almost solidified. They were going to build a ballpark on a community college property and they were not only going to pay for it out of pocket, but invest money into improving public transportation to the community college for the students and build dorms for the students. At the 11 o'clock hour, the school board rejected it, citing its priorities were with the college and the students. It didn't want to serve the interests of a baseball team.

As time has passed, the A's have not been acting in good faith either. They've jacked up prices of tickets and concession items. They've made the stadium experience miserable by only having a few concession stands open with 30-minute lines. They've done everything they can to piss off the few loyal fans they have that want to attend baseball games. On top of all that, their on-the-field product is embarrassing. I couldn't tell you who the face of the franchise is right now. Seth Brown?

That's too bad. I've always been an A's fan, ever since my Dad won $100 office pool when they won the '72
World Series. I recall a vacation to San Francisco, it was baseball's offseason, but we were riding on the BART train when suddenly I turned around and was shocked that we were going right past that beautiful stadium, real close too. I know it's not a beautiful stadium really, but I was just 12 or 13, and it damn near took my breath away, I'll never forget it.

I do think it was a beautiful stadium before Mt. Davis ruined it. It used to have those grassy knolls above the outfield bleachers and a view of the Oakland Hills that were littered with oak trees.

I agree, Oakland is likely worried about becoming Miami. They invested in the team finally and then WHAM the owners still cut costs.

I totally agree they're worried about that.

The A's have never kept any homegrown star since Eric Chavez. That was a generation ago.

Even the penny-pinching Rays extended Evan Longoria for his prime years and locked up Wander Franco. Cleveland extended Jose Ramirez and Andres Gimenez in the last two years.

I definitely hate that the A's flip players so often and "rebuild". They could have won a few WS with their previous cores.

A lot of pitchers seem to be getting hurt recently. It's odd the amount of injuries that seem to be piling up right now.

Can't ask the fans to give a shit when the city and team are clearly not interested in doing the right thing.
