  • This Hurts - Rodgers for 1/2 price of RW3

Rodgers going to Jets/Hackett for two 2nd round picks (+ a few others)...but there is absolutely no first rounder included. Unconfirmed but both sides are close.

What does this say about Paton's trade for 'RW3 and Out'?
    • Jets get: Aaron Rodgers.
    • Packers get: 2023 second-round pick, conditional 2024 second-round pick -- the 2024 pick could become a first-rounder if the Jets hit "achievable team-performance escalators" during the 2023 season.

He is turning 40 this season.

Yeah, that, and he didn’t have a great last year, and he’s proven himself to be a headache.

He might retire after this season, or go through his drawn out retirement decision process after each season for the next year or two or three. That will suck for the Jets off-season planning.

Rodgers has 1-2 seasons left. He isn’t Brady. He’s declining already.

Jets are a playoff/SB contender for 1 year though.

Price is about what "the market will bear." After last season, Rodgers is statistically down in almost every category. Who thinks those stats will go up when moved to a new team? Was the missing piece actually Nathaniel Hackett (barf)?

in 2021, Rodgers there for 37 TDs and 4 INTs with a 68.9 completion %
        in 2022, he threw for 26/12 with a 64.6%.

He's no longer the elite difference maker he used to be, and as stated before, he's a head case that may or may not actually play another down of football - completely unpredictable. Also - he's never played in a major market like New York, where his "just relax" speeches won't go quite as far as GB.

This whole negotiation is a hostage crisis. I've never seen a QB do this kind of crap to his old and new team simultaneously. Complete circus, so now organizations are trying to get this done without losing too much time and "face."

Rodgers is not that good anymore and he only wanted the Jets so it really doesn't hurt all that much.

            Russell Wilson still sucks

This was expected. Rodgers has been dancing around retirement for some time. The bigger issue at this point is not even the price for Wilson, but the horrible QB play the Broncos got from him and the contract extension. Paid premium for garbage.

Call that the George Paton special. Dude’s nothing more than a 80 dollar haircut.

Rodgers is a flake who might retire next year. Or just decide not to show up at all after an enlightening acid trip. Our mistake still stings but I’m not too worried about this.

I see where you are coming from but this could end up a 1st and a 2nd, for a much older player. But I get it, we paid a lot for Wilson and he hasn't come through yet. Most likely Rodgers only plays a couple more years.

I’m the first to jump on Paton but this trade is for 1-2 years. Wilson was supposed to be 5-7 years.

Rodgers is elite, Russ is a backup at best.

Exactly. Russ isn't 1-2 years away from retirement nor is he waffling every off-season.

Doesn’t matter what happens with Rodgers. Broncos got fleeced.

If anything, this board is predictable. I expected that the jets would not have to pay as much for Rodgers as the Broncos had to pay for Wilson. There is a reason for that, and it has nothing to do with the GM's that made the trade, and everything to do with Rodgers age, last yr's performance, and the fact that he has not committed to long term. He hasn't even been joining his team in OTC's, IIRC.

I also predicted that there would be some that here that wouldn't understand those differences, or even try to understand them.

broncos should never make a trade with Seattle to get a QB again. They traded to get the pick to draft that QB from Memphis and they traded the house to get Russ. So far both trades have been very destructive to the team.

I get Jets show promise but they finished dead last in their Division at 7-10.

I don't see anything more than a playoff push at best...and dealing with Drama.

Denver vastly overpaid for a RB. RW is one of the most overrated QB in last 10 yrs.

I was a supporter of Hackett. I was wrong and I can admit that. Seemed like he did great things in GB and our O was stale and needed a huge change.

Moving on he was so bad that he didn't coach RW3 . RW3 was in charge all season. Payton won't allow that. He has made that clear. A couple of takes on that . Questions asked of Payton . parking space ??? He will park with the other players. Will RW3 be allowed to have his own QB coach here ??? I wasn't aware of that, but the only QB coach that will be here is mine.

This is exactly what RW3 needs. Someone to be his coach and keep him in check. Look at the last few game he played after Hackett got canned. If he plays like that we go far next year.

He's about to be 40 and had a mediocre season, is a massive diva, flirts with retirement every season. Not surprised the price is lower.

He isn't but, we are 1 year away from a big decision that can cause issues for 2 yrs or 5 plus years if we ride with Russ the whole way.
