  • HAMLER OUT AGAIN

Broncos wide receiver KJ Hamler has suffered a significant injury during offseason training.Hamler suffered a partiall torn pectoral and recently underwent surgery, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network. It is estimated that Hamler will miss four to six months, which on the short end of that range would mean he’d be ready to star training [more]

This WR is a bust. Can't trade Juedy now IMO.

They were never planning to have a healthy Hamler. Likely changes nothing.

Are you really whining because I’m stating the obvious? Expect people to respond with their takes in threads you make. Do you know how message boards work?

Cutthemdown, are you actually crying that he commented on it that way? Seriously, there was nothing wrong with his post but a ton wrong with your reply to him. Odd especially someone that has been around for years and knows how a board works.

I agree, I doubt they were depending on him and this changes nothing with Jeudy. He may still be traded if they can get value.
IMO, I think they'll give him training camp to see if he's healthy and contributing and if not he's gone.

I still don't get why Payton wants to trade Jeudy so badly. Did things go south when (if) they met after Payton was hired or if it is just a money/picks deal? Jeudy is our best WR Patrick was good before his ACL but he wasn't a burner before that.

Only thing I could see is Payton wants Beckham but he is an injury risk as well.

I think there are a couple points here.
              1. I'm sure we let teams know we were open for business, but obviously we weren't selling cheap.
              2. Payton has clearly stated that he wants willing blockers at the WR position.
              3. There is probably also a cap management aspect to this. We have plenty of holes, and we need to look at Wilson's contract from 2024 on. Is Jeudy worth a big contract as a Home receiver yet? I think the answer is obviously "no" although he may change minds in Payton's system this year.
              4. Sean Payton probably feels like he can draft a 6 TD per year guy for a lot less money.

How does this have any effect on trading either of the other 2? Hamler would be the 3rd but he has absolutely zero value.

Have to wonder why they didn't go stronger for Thielen. Doesn't seem like the contract he got was out of reach.

Nah we have a great WR room!

the fact payton wants to clear out that room is good enough for me.

Makes sense. Most the season and this year the scouting/preparation under Paton…if they dump him after the draft it’ll be poetic to the clowns defending him blindly.

KJ Hamler was a wasted pick.

Draft-savvy guys knew it the moment Elway handed the card in.

I’m not particularly “draft savvy” and I despised the pick. For one, you don’t use your top two picks on WR’s, particularly when you have multiple other needs. For another, you don’t draft undersized guys with mediocre hands and injury histories. It was just a terrible pick no matter how you look at it.

I think one of Elway's run here was the inability to judge personalities/character from pre-draft interviews.

Elway drafted a CB who stated he hated running backwards.

Beckham carries too much drama for Payton.

I always hope the Broncos are going to be awesome. I rarely believe it though.

But I did consider that he might've been lying. Just doesn't seem like the kind of thing a head coach would lie about, especially not a newly-hired one. New head coach Stupid McDaniel lied about "not trying to trade" Cutler, that didn't work out too well for him.

Maybe so, but there are some nutty theories out there. One says Payton's going to cut Sutton post June 1 regardless. But that makes no sense - if he was going to do that, they would have taken any offer to off-load that contract.

And New England offered a 2nd round pick for Jeudy, right? If he's the locker room malcontent that so many guys think he is, why not take that pick? By claiming neither one is on the trading block, He's got to pick up the 5th year on Jeudy, and he can't really cut Sutton.

Obviously I'm all in on Sean Payton, but I'm not crazy about lies like that, I don't see any advantage to it. And I think he might've overpaid for both McGlinchey and Powers. There, I said it.

There were too many rumors about those WR's getting traded for it not to be true they wanted to move them. Jeudy's rumors go back to before the deadline last year. So there is fire there. You tell people now that the rumors are not true and that it was other teams reaching out because you need to ensure those guys buy in.

Well, if you read recent interviews with Penner, he agrees and knows this. Its almost certain that people overpay in free agency. Rarely do you get a great ROI when paying on past performance, but it was necessary this year. Not just because of the roster, but because of the missing draft picks.

The great news is that our new owner understands this and is intimately involved in the formation of a new regime. It makes me feel good that he (Penner) is so personally vested and formulating a long term plan for success. We are in good hands.
