  • Wilson Called Sean Payton

Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson would apparently like to ride with Sean Payton as his next head coach. That’s at least according to Colin Cowherd of FOX Sports who said during Thursday’s episode of The Heard that Wilson has reached out to Payton to make his feelings known.“Russell Wilson has contacted Sean — legally, by the way, [more]

Wilson is trying to ask Payton to come fix him!

Yesterday’s news but since you posted it, does anyone else feel that Wilson may be attempting to butter up Sean Payton?

We can’t have anymore friends of Russ on the coaching staff. We need a coach to call him out and explain what will and what won’t work on the field.

I would imagine that in Russ' mind this is his chance to play for a really good offensive minded HC that can help resurrect his image and career. He took a beating in the press this year and there is no more room for his fake attitude or poor play.

Wilson was sacked like 50 times this year. We need better protection and for Wilson to make quicker decisions.

55 times. Have to fix the OL. It's needed fixing for years but last season was the breaking point. Even Cowherd was able to point out that we only have two decent OL.

We have swung and missed at RT over and over. The Broncos need to solidify that spot this yr. We also need a new center and guard, but RT has to be first IMO.

        55 times is ridiculous.

The primary issue is that the Broncos never devote premium draft resources to the positions. OT should usually be addressed with a top 2 round pick. C & G can usually be found in round 2-4 with no issues.
We usually pick terrible guys when we do grab those players, seek guys that are C/G flexible instead of picking the better player who is one or the other or just can't develop them worth a damn.

Yeah, I liked Cowherd repeatedly saying that the Broncos have an immediate, obvious problem to fix in their O-Line. He said something like the problem is obvious to everyone and mentioned an example of another team fixing theirs. I've hated seeing the Broncos ignore the O-Line season after season.

I don't know what to do now about Bolles. The right thing would have been to draft a guy that could start at RT and eventually replace Bolles at LT. That should have already been done and there were guys available to us to do that in the last couple of drafts. Nobody really knows what Bolles is going to look like when he comes back from his injury. As of right now we have Meinerz as a quality O-Lineman. That's it.

Why’s everyone in such a hurry to get rid of the only good OL we have?

You draft your cornerstone LT and move Bolles to RT

Yeah you could tell he was learning a whole new offense all year - dumazz Hackett only knows one claibration and poor RW3 and out was absolutely LOST! Last two games were his best of the year. Get a coach first Paton then the players (GM 101 - 2nd semester) - you dumazz

I think in Russ’s mind he thought he could be pfm and come to Denver and be an mvp player and it didn’t work out and he thinks he could be like Bree’s and link up with Sean Peyton and be a mvp player too. He ain’t that guy, he sucks. Don’t pick a coach because the washed up qb wants him.

You’re probably right about the first part. As for the second part, I don’t think they’ll hire Payton because of Russ. They’ll hire him because they think he’s the best candidate.

If any of you think Russ will be telling Sean Payton that he wants to run the Drew Brees offense, and Payton will oblige, you don’t know Sean Payton. Because that ain’t happening.

Drew Brees developed into a HOFer because he was traded to the right coach that custom designed an offense just for him and his skills. He will do the same exact thing with Russ as he did for Brees, but it will NOT be the same offensive schemes that Brees ran.

It will likely be similar to what was run in Seattle, but with Payton’s creativity added in.Will they collaborate on some things? Sure, maybe. But I assure you, Russ isn’t telling Payton how anything will be done.
