Where were you and what were you doing when you heard about the attack?

Me: On a commuter bus, headed to downtown Denver, reading the Post's recap of our Monday night win against the Giants and the probable loss of Ed McCaffrey for the season.

I had been working the night shift: get in at 9pm and off at 5am. Was home sleeping when my phone started ringing and wouldn't stop (pre-cellphone era; it was my landline). Got up and my co-worker/friend said, "Watch TV! Building in NY just fell over!" Turned on TV and sat with him on the phone for quite a long time, both of us trying to understand what we were watching. Went in to work that night and noticed how eerily quiet the skies were when I went out with him for his smoke break because the planes weren't flying.

In Korea, it was bout 11pm local time, drunk, bout to take a girl to the hotel, when town patrol turned the music off, said everyone who’s military get on base now. Total ****ing chaos that night with half the base drunk thinking NK was invading and it’s go time.

My wife and I are showing our kids original news clips and what was happening, telling them of things that used to be. My dad traveled on business and my non would take me and my sister to watch planes land at the airport while we waited at the gate for his arrival. Quite a contrast to today’s send off and arrivals. When I left for boot camp the send of was at the gate. After 9-11 churches were so full people stood in the isles. At my job at the time people were going to pray and to services over their lunch hours. Listening to Toby Keith, Alan Jackson sings & more. It happens to be a sabbath of repentance & return. I don’t think that’s by accident. America bless God!

A the theme is ‘we will not forget’. Have you?
