    This is Why You Fire a Coach Midseason

    Hopefully we don’t have to consider this for a while, but we just saw the answer to the question of why you pull the trigger and fire an obviously incompetent coach.

    Not saying this would have yielded a playoff appearance. But it seems pretty obvious this team could have come out with a respectable record if Hackett was jettisoned when it became apparent he was totally in over his head.

      “I can get you Aaron Rodgers.” I can literally think of no other reason why he would’ve been hired. 🤦🏼‍♂️

        A part of me is so happy to see it was mostly Hackett. The other part is me is consumed by even more anger than Patton hired that complete piece of garbage. JR is a good coach. It's a shame he never got nor will get his chance.

        PS. STONEHOUSE WAS IN OUR BACKYARD.

          Hackett makes Vance look like a seasoned chess player in comparison.

          I truly fail to understand the punter thing. Martin has a higher average, higher net average. It's like punters come to Denver to struggle and then blow up when they leave.

              Some posters made fun when we said to fire hackett.. they even thought to give hackett for one more year.
              Good that owners took control of this team(instead of paton making decisions)

                Exactly! They always do that shit.

                I said back in 2017 that the broncos wouldn’t get right until a fully functioning coherent owner is in place because an owner spending his own money would hold the arrogance of the front office accountable. The grossly offended environs of broncomania laughed while thumping their middle school sized chest telling me that I was stupid and that the Bowlens were great owners.

                Pat Bowlen was a great owner but his kids never owned the team, Joe Ellis did but low n behold they look to finally be on the right track with the Walton/Penner group!

                  That is what put me on the fire Flamingo boy. He obviously hired Hack and there is no way he interviewed great. Shows me Flamingo by is clueless when it comes to coaching hires. He was handcuffed by the amount the Bowlen trust would pay a HC but Hackett was not even close to a HC.

                    He had some pixie dust, some magic 8 ball, some coke for everyone or something. He was way too impressive some how. I remember Paton talking about how he was blown away.
                    I just can't understand how at this point.

                                It's a very bad look to fire a 1st-year HC, even worse to do it midseason. It has to be something extremely serious with off-field incidents like the Urban Meyer fiasco. I can see why the new owners did not want to do it. The real problem was hiring Hackett in the first place, but the owners were not part of the process. They needed time to evaluate, talk to owners, executives and other people they trusted. It was unreasonable to expect this group to arrive and, while getting settled, fire the HC in 8-9 weeks. It was an unfortunate situation combining Paton's mistake in the hiring cycle and the new ownership arriving and needing time to assess everything around them.

                                      I believe they can start officially interviewing head coaches on the 17th so we probably won’t see an offer until next week sometime

                                        It’s terrible we had to endure 15 games of incompetent coaching before the ownership group decided to part ways with Hackett. It was evident the rookie head coach was over his head with the embarrassing blunders in week 1. Denver was the laughing stock of the 2022 NFL season. A once proud franchise turned into a joke, was disrespected by the media, and ended up being memed to death on social media. They deserved every bit of the negative attention.

                                        Heads need to roll if this new ownership group is serious about rebuilding the reputation of the franchise and regaining the trust of the fan base. They need to surgically remove the cancers from the top down. Executives, coaches, strength and conditioning, players; all of them need to be held accountable. It’s easy to hit rock bottom, the climb to the surface will be a much larger challenge. Especially with an overhyped and overpaid QB and limited draft capital. I hope they’re prepared.

                                          Good Post.. The main culprit is Paton and if he is retained.. he should be there just to order pizzas.
                                          Strength and conditioning coaches need to be looked at .. too many injuries and it's difficult to compete in NFL

                                            Bunch of people said it would be stupid to fire Hackett midseason.

                                            the bye would’ve been the time. Nope.

                                            if it was up to Paton Hackett would’ve coaches those last 2 games. The result wouldve been embarrassinf losses with 3 points and 9 points.


                                            the reason he was hired and not fired is still in the building.

                                              Paton shouldn’t survive this mess. Some people might like his negotiating and drafting abilities, but he’s a large reason why they’re neck deep in sewage at the moment. Getting a first round pick for Bradley Chubb doesn’t make up for the Hackett hire and Wilson debacle.
