From the sounds of it the machine is like a snow plow version of a tank with full tracks. He stepped out of it and the brakes failed and it ran him over after he tried to get back in it to stop it. A neighbor was a doctor that luckily heard screams and found him bleeding out. He gave him a Tourniquet and they put him on a flight for life helicopter. He's made it out of surgery and is in stable condition but still listed as critical.

Dude is a down to earth guy that didn't get famous without paying his dues.
Plus he totally looks like grumpy cat if Grumpy Cat were a human. And he knows it so he's extra nice.
