  • Embedded Tweets

I'm not an online newbie or anything but for the life of me I can't see any of the embedded tweets and opening them in a new tab results in an unusable grab-bag of URL parts half the time which are totally uneditable. Other times all I have to do is go in and edit out extra http/ options in front of the real link. I don't get it.

    What am I doing wrong?

Still waiting for some clarity on this.

I have some tracker blockers (Disconnect and Ghostery) running in Chrome, so it's not uncommon to have to fiddle around on some places in order to actually see the tweets within the posts. Here, however, I have been unable to figure out how to do that. My main problem is that the vast majority of the embedded tweet links don't even work when opening them into a new tab. I get a bunch of garbage and the page won't load:

No dice, but at least they appear to be the easy-to-edit kind:

The inability to display embedded tweets is surely caused by the plugins I mentioned: disabling them causes the posted tweets to show up. I post on various other boards and on most of them I'm able to see embedded tweets without turning off the tracker-blocking stuff, but couldn't exactly tell you why. I'm mostly still just confused about why they aren't all simple, clean URLs that can be opened in a different tab.

It's probably something device-related or whatever. Don't cry for me, I'll persist.

That's weird. What it's churning out for you (URL-wise) isn't what I post into the embedding Tweet button here.

Well, the last part is, but the www.twitter.com/twt/status portion of the URL is somehow being added on whatever device you are on.

            🤷‍♂️

Finally posted a tweet of my own and figured it out, for anyone curious.

If you paste the entire url into the , opening a new tab will result in a damaged address for some reason. If you only paste the final numeric value for the tweet, however, it works just fine. I'm not sure if this is a vBulletin thing or what.
