It’s also interesting to hear Penner say he’s new to this and has been consulting outsiders on various areas. Doesn’t seem like he’s leaning on Paton for anything, in fact he has essentially stripped Paton of final say on football operations and it seems to be how football operations will be run, is going to be left up to the new HC.
Ultimately, I think everyone can agree that Paton is a good scout but a terrible GM. I think either Penner is going to can Paton at the request of a name HC with significant clout (think Tomlin, Payton, Harbaugh) or he’s going to be Ted Sundquist 2.0 and essentially doing menial tasks, with zero say in football operations. Just send the HC reports on players etc.Comment
