I don't know, I think Paton has been very good at his job, with the exception of the Wilson trade and contract. I realize those are two enormous exceptions, but his trading skills have otherwise been excellent. I don't think Bradley Chubb was worth a first rounder, but he got us one.

If we could take back just the second rounders, and held off on giving Wilson his new contract, I would be 100% understanding of Paton's decisions. We can't of course, so he has those black marks, but the rest of his work here has been very very good.

I hear people say that Paton is great outside of Hack and Russ. After I look at this roster and only see 10-12 players that are starter quality I don't get how people say he is great. Getting a 1st for Chubb was good but who knows what DB or RB he will draft with it. What has he done that makes you think he is very good?

Don't agree.. I would have taken pass rusher over Surtain.

I think Paton has been very good at his job, with the exception of the Wilson trade and contract -> Doesn't matter if 7th round pick was good.

Hackett, Gregory, Gordon, Didn't address WR when Tim Patrick was injured. Shitty training staff. Didn't address LB position.

I can go on and on. if Paton did a good job, I just don't see it.

There is a reason Penner(as per the statement) lost confidence in Paton. We will suck if Paton is doing decisions again.

GM is determined based on QB and coach selection. Don't give shit if some 4th or 5th rounder he selected playing well.
Most of us are against Gregory signing.

10 - 12 players?.. i doubt it. at most 5-6 players are good.

I think his draft picks have been excellent. He got great value for Chubb, very good value for Von Miller who had just come off IR with an expiring contract, and his other trades have been (sorry for the hyperbole, but) great.

If we can get a list of the trades he's made, I think most would agree.

But the decision to hire Hackett, that wasn't all on Paton. Elway, Hackett and somebody else made that decision. And remember, young OCs for several years have been the hottest 1st-time head coach hires in the league: Shanahan, McVay, Lafleur, Sirianni, McDaniel, O'Connell, Daboll, Zac Taylor. And Hackett had just coached Rodgers to two straight MVPs. Even if Paton is 1/3 or 1/2 to blame for Hackett, it wasn't an obvious screw up. Not then anyway.

Actually, I second guessed the Surtain pic right off the bat, Mac Jones and Justin Fields were still on the board, and I liked both of them.

Hack wasn't a young OC. He has been around and passed over for HC positions/interviews for a long time. The young successful OCs seem to all be coming from the Shanny tree.

My verdict? I've been saying "Fire Hackett" for at least a month now, probably closer to 2 months.

It's ultimate failure can be seen in its entirety in the last 5 minutes of the season opener. He was flummoxed and bewildered: a first time head coach/first time game manager/first time play caller rifling through papers trying to figure out all three jobs, before losing control and rushing the field goal team out there.

People have a full season of film on him now so they can prepare for him. Of course, Matt Patricia being his OC without officially being his OC doesn't help.
McDaniels for all his flaws is one hell of a OC when he's under Belichick. He got the most out of Jones last year.
