Dumb was Paton and Hacket not doing enough research to see Russ is a washed up QB with a ton of baggage. Dumb was Paton extending him a quarter of a billion before he played a down in a Broncos uniform. I don’t care at this point. Take the cap hit and move on. Russ is a cancer. -
Fireball - was there sufficient information out there to warn us away from Wilson? When it happened, I don't recall any voices, or very very VERY few voices, calling the trade a mistake. A few argued we gave up a bit too much, but nobody claimed he was washed up. Broncocalijohn - You're correct of course, But if they think he is actually washed up, Maybe we could make him available via trade, of course agreeing to pay some of his salary. We definitely have enough money now. -
BroncoBuff / Broncocalijohn - Wilson didn’t magically change overnight when he slipped on a Bronco uniform. His inability to use the middle of field has been an issue for years. He’s never been very accurate and has relied on plays to break down. The stats don’t tell the whole story. He’s been padding his completion percentage with easy dump off plays to the flat for his entire career. The recent decline in his ability to avoid pressure and scramble is why the Seahawks were willing to move on from their self proclaimed “Future Hall of Fame” QB. They knew he wasn’t going to make the transformation into a pocket passer.
I have quite a few friends in the Seattle, Tacoma, Port Angeles area. They’re all die-hard Seattle Seahawks fans. It was quite telling when they weren’t at all saddened when Russ was traded to the Broncos. In fact, I get to hear about it every Sunday when Russ underperforms.
Yes, my original comment was knee jerk and meant to be mean. I realize the organization isn’t going to cut Russ, eat the contract, and take the cap hit. At this point it doesn’t matter. Denver is stuck with a washed up QB who will probably be holding a clipboard by the end of next season.
