    Anyone else suspicious of the Commisioner's recent claims about the Broncos QBs?

    So, in a recent interview, Roger Goodell sat down and explained that the reason the Broncos were punished so severely for last year for the covid issues was because security footage had shown the Four QBs leave their tracers in the corner of the room, and then meet in the center of the room to watch film together. The QBs were trying to game the protocols, hence the severity of the punishment.

    And, honestly, something just smells off about this narative. If this was truly the reason for the punishment, why didn't Goodell or the NFL announce it last year at the time of the infraction. If some ruling prohibited him from discussing punishment then, why is he free to do so now. The timing of this just trips my BS sensors.

      So what advantage does the NFL get for doing it now. It feels more to me that the story finally broke and now Goodell has to address it. The punishment was because the 4 QB lied to the staff and league and than someone turned them in.

              With the exception of Drew Locks mom... No one has denied this.

              We all knew something was up when the broncos fined each of the QB's after the NFL benched the room.

                  I’m still trying to figure out the benefit of gathering in a damn circle jerk in the middle of the room instead of 6-12 feet apart.

                          Didn't you know, Covid can't get you if you are 6 feet away. Covid just says, "shit, guess I'm on to the next person that gets close enough"

                                  I’m not suspicious of anything. I think they did what was reported. That is why the Broncos organization didn’t put up much of a fight to postpone the game. I’m sure it was an embarrassment for the franchise.

                                          Seems like there was some smoke that supports this. Vic made comments about the QBs letting the team down. But never got specific. I also heard rumors there was “more” to the story. So I don’t think this is BS.

                                              Fangio's comment at the time:

                                              “I was disappointed on a couple levels," Fangio said Sunday evening. "That our quarterbacks put us in this position and that our quarterbacks put the league in this position. We count on them to be the leaders of the team and leaders of the offense and those guys made a mistake and that is disappointing."

                                              Fangio didn't limit the disappointment to the quarterbacks. He also blamed himself for the quarterbacks' imperfect obedience to the NFL's intensive COVID-19 protocols.

                                              Sounds like Fangio did what he could to protect them from blowback. But anyone in his position would have been pretty PO'd.

                                                  Agreed that it is puzzling why the commish kept this info private, but everything else makes sense to me. The Broncos punishment was what was basically a forfeited game that was played. That game was an embarrassment for the Broncos on many levels. But no other punishment for the team that we are aware of. The league made an example of them.

                                                  It also explains why the team didn’t push back on the league when some in the fan base wanted them to; the league had all the leverage. And finally, it explains why Fangio showed anger at the QB’s and fined them all accordingly.

                                                      If they are on video taking off their wrist bands to circumvent the rules and then took off their masks to eat next to each other then they deserve what they got.

                                                      How do you not know there are cameras everywhere in those facilities? They also didn't seem to be afraid of any consequences of being caught, that is something the coaches have to hammer home.

                                                      Heard on the DNVR podcast that is why when it came down to the wire that Teddy got the lead over Drew, because he is more mature. Dunno, wish the HC would have drove the mask mandate stuff home to all the players and had consequences for them.
