  • Denver Must Cut Gordon NOW!

On top of his horrifying play, on top of being one of three people obviously, directly responsible for Denver losses (the others being Hackett and Wilson), Gordon is a locker room problem. He always has been. And here is saying he doesn't know why he was mostly benched last night: https://news.yahoo.com/broncos-rb-me...153735612.html

Fumbles the ball every game, and doesn't know why he's not playing? In addition, liking tweets about going elsewhere, being a bad teammate online, like he always has. You simply cannot have a veteran player on the team who objectively is the worst RB in the league, going into last year, and still bitches about playing time.

They showed Jeudy talking to Gordon on the sideline and it made me want to throw up. Gordon is who he is. Jeudy may yet turn into a solid player and teammated.

Get Gordon the **** out of town. In a dream world, send Hackett with him--but let's start small.

DMac just predicted that he's gone in the next 24 hours. Anything else you'd like to dream up in this divorce decree?

Think about this. The guys that hang with Gordon will start to divide the locker room. You don't need to be a high profile player to divide the locker room.

They can follow Gordon to irrelevancy as well.

Always been a big Melvin Gordon fan, but the fumbles this season and last are obviously troublesome and unacceptable. He is clearly in his own head (based on several interviews) and is struggling with the mental part of the game. Denver probably couldn't get anything in a trade for him. Unless by some miracle it was a '24 NFL Draft late-round pick or some sort of pick-swap of late picks.

Okay, but has anything come out about why he was benched? Because, if not, I sort of agree with him. The fumbles are what they are. But we were apparently all good with that two games ago. Did he really do something in three carries last night that was worthy of being humiliated on national tv against his former team?

This was utterly predictable. Cutting him is basically a syllogism:

Can you trust him with the ball enough to play him? Of course not.

If you don't play him, will he be a problem on the roster? Of course. He has been a problem in the past merely because he was splitting carries with other talented backs.

Given that, what can you do other than cut him (or trade him if anyone is stupid enough to do that)?

But I still can't get over how stupid this guy is. He fumbled every game for five or six games in a row. How can he say he doesn't know why he's not playing? A guy with half a brain, with any atom in his body that's a team player, answers along these lines: "I understand that I have work to do to gain back the trust of my coaches and teammates. I'm focused on being ready and contributing when the team needs me."

Come on. He played two games ago because the team lost its only other starting RB on a short week. If he doesn't understand that he's too stupid to live.

Jeudy is trash. If you aren't getting it done by your 3rd yr in the NFL chances are you aren't ever living up to 1st round status.

Okay. I don’t necessarily disagree with you. To be clear, I do not think he’s a bad character guy. He had the one incident here with the purported drunk driving that was embarrassing. But it amounted to nothing, other than him looking like a clown from what he said to the cop. Otherwise, he’s been a good citizen. But he has not held onto the ball in Denver, and his fumbles seem to happen at the worst possible times. That is certainly grounds for benching.

But then why start him last night? Okay, last game, I can see. But starting him, giving him a few carries, and then benching him - it almost seems punitive.

Gordon's surprise likely arises because he received most of the reps during practice leading up to the game. If Hackett and Co. had a reduced role for him in mind leading up to the game—that is something that should have been established beforehand. I think he's quite cognizant of the fact that his fumbles aren't doing him any favors relative to being considered trustworthy. But it certainly doesn't appear he was ever told before hand limited reps were on the horizon.

He was told that by Paton getting Murray and coach saying Murray would be ready the next week. 3rd sting guys don't get diva treatment.

I'm talking about a direct conversation of having a reduced roll with the team from Hackett or his position coach. Based on Melvin's comments—that never happened. You don't give a guy the most reps in practice during the week and then barely use him in the game.

Based on what we've seen from Hackett so far, there was probably no motive or thought behind it at all. For all we know, Hackett just forgot he was there.

I don't discount the possibility that Hackett handled the situation poorly. In fact, it would be most surprising if he handled it well.

I don't necessarily think Gordon is a bad character guy. But he's never been a very good team guy. He dealt poorly with sharing the ball with Lindsay and Williams, which makes you wonder why he was here this year to begin with.

He was a last minute addition as the back up to Williams. But they let it sit out there for a good while before bringing him back.

I would hope they trade Jeudy as well. Get something for him while we still can.

It doesn’t matter how talented you are. If you can’t be a competitor you will not make it in this league.

Hamler too…. We have two studs locked up, let’s see what else we have.

I doubt you could get another NFL player to agree to come here.

I had to look Hamilton up. He's a European race car driver; Probably to go along with Rob Walton's vast collection of Ferraris, Aston Martin's, and whatnot.
