I'm not blaming Paton, no way.

Biggest immediately fixable problem: Somebody else should call the plays. Hackett has enough to worry about as a first-time head coach, he shouldn't heap first-time play caller duties on top of that.

I'm tempted to point out how close these games have been, how close we are to being 5-1. But that just points the finger right back at the problem Dom is talking about, that the defense is so many light years better than the offense that there could be trouble in that locker room pretty soon.

In my opinion it's way too soon to fire Hackett. Why? Well, fumbles aren't Hackett's fault, yet three fumbles cost us the Seahawks and Raiders games. We be 4-2 if we held on to just two of those three fumbles.

I say take away his play calling duties starting yesterday. Let him find his footing on the sidelines as a head coach first.

He bit off way more than he could chew by hiring such a junior staff and just got super lucky that Eviro turned out to be such a stud. Shotgun on 3rd and 1. Hell, shotgun with no hot read when you know the D is bringing the house. Terrible play calling. Felt bad for Washington, but the offense continues to hang this team out to dry.

Lol Hackett will now try to pivot to being the serious, all business disciplinarian type to get everyone to feel the urgency and that won’t work either.

On the other hand, I don’t think DJ Jones, Pat Surtain, Kareem Jackson etc. are really interested in the Step Brothers and Anchorman jokes anymore so he’s kinda ****ed either way.

Hackett is toast for sure, just a matter of whether or not the owners have the stomach to make a real statement and do it in-season. I doubt it.

Paton will have to plead his case for another season. I think as long as he’s willing to make changes he can get by. Will they accept the Dan Quinn-Brian Schottenheimer plan?

I read somewhere that the last time a team fired a 1st yr coach mid-season was SF in 1978, and I think that was 9 games in. If true, that’s unbelievable. I don’t know that firing Hackett know accomplishes anything. If they fire him now does that make the team better? I don’t see how.

Maybe they just force him to turn the offense over to Klint Kubiak. He’s the only one that has any experience in calling plays. OTOH, he is also the “passing game” coordinator so I don’t know if he’s the answer either.

Yikes. The man has no clue what he’s doing and shows no signs he’ll figure it out. On the most important drives of the game, Hackett calls run, run, incompletion. And as Ryan Greene joked on Twitter, the Broncos will run for one yard on any down other than third-and-1. And don’t forget 10 men on the field for punt coverage. Again. And don’t forget the penalties. Again. Denver is a sloppy, unprepared, stupid football team and that starts with Hackett.

Nope. You've got to save what's left of the team. If Hackett goes, and Evero is put in charge, the players see change happening. They have hope. It's a new slate. If not? Same ole bullshit, different day. It's only going to get worse. Cut out the disease and begin the cure.

If Disasteruss continues to fail, sit him down. I would hate to see a player like Surtain (and others) wasted on a team with a shitty offense. NFL careers are short. Act now!

It’s such a mess I really hope they use this injury to shut down Wilson through the bye. Rypien is a smart QB I want to see if the offense looks better and is manageable with someone that can audible and see the field. I know the line sucks but I really feel like the only time Wilson is good is when the play breaks down. His pre-snap adjustments are non existent and he doesn’t see the field. Pete Carol knew he could coach a mobile QB but as time goes on he’s not a pocket passer and won’t have the longevity Brady or Manning has. Hes just too damn short and his escapability bought him time to see the field otherwise he is just not processing it.
