  • Sean Payton

This thread was going to be made sooner or later.

As of today (week 4 2022 have all been played and Denver is about to play the Colts on TNF) I believe BOTH Paton and Hackett are finished at years end.

Playing things out to their logical conclusion - Hackett has been a disaster - And by extension, Paton, for hiring him.

Something to consider regarding Paton (the GM, not Sean) ....as things are, Paton sits atop the football heirarchy. Who thinks Wal-Mart wants it to remain that way?......where the GM would ultimately make the call to fire Hackett and hire another coach? They aren't going to let a guy who they had no hand in selecting, have that much power and control of their football team.

Hackett and Paton will be out.

Wal - Mart will write whatever check it takes to get Sean Payton in, and Sean will hire his own GM that reports to him.

I will take 3 separate 100 dollar bets on Sean Payton being Denvers head coach game 1 of the 2023 season.

I mentioned in another thread he did a pod where he said how he would fix this Denver offense. Sounded like a job interview answer. Aka baiting the hook.

Hackett could be fired this week if they lose to Indy

I thought I read where NO owns his rights. They might have to trade for him.

Didn't the Raiders get a 1st for Gruden? Payton is worth more than him, IMO.

It's different when the guy isn't the current coach. Won't fetch as much for him.

NO currently owns his rights....for 2022. I think that's done once the season ends. (I am NOT 100% sure on that, but I think that is the case)

Hackett is done in Denver, it's just a question of when. No so sure on Patton. He has a great reputation, I think it will be enough to over come the Hackett hire.

This would be best case scenario….

                It’s through 2024.

if only it would happen but there will be a bidding war from several teams….for example if Chargers fold at the end they will go hard for Payton to pair up with Herbert..Dallas will be another team in the hunt….

Broncos have zero draft capital. Those other teams can drop a 2nd rounder easily.

                  Get Payton

He had Mahomes and Latimore targeted at #11. Mahomes would have been the pick at #11.

Waaaaaaaay too much conjecture at this point.

I seriously think that all Hackett has to do to keep his job is one of these two things: 1) get to 10 wins and be sniffing the playoffs in game 17, or 2) "split" the divisional games. If he proves he can beat the Chargers, and more importantly the Chiefs, he'll keep his job. The home divisional games might be the key to him staying employed in Denver.

I think the new owners have a great relationship with George Paton and trust him moving forward. Hacketts tenure won't decide Paton's tenure, even if Hackett is released.

Would you care to wager sir? (Hows that $1 Dollar bill treating you? I suspect you framed it and have it prominently displayed in your home)

Nah, the $1 is at work on my office wall. Sill makes me chuckle.

Are you saying that if one of my two conditions are met, you still see Hackett getting fired?
                        1. Still in a viable playoff scenario going into week 17 (even if its convoluted like 2 teams have to lose, and we win to get in). It just has to be a "win" to get in the playoffs scenario in week 17.
                        2. Splitting the divisional record, one of those HAS to be a win against the Chiefs.

I think if either of those happen, Hackett keeps his job, I'd bet on that.

I would say regardless of splitting division games...IF the Broncos made the playoffs, that might do it. And I'd add in the caveat that if Denver were to make or barely miss the playoffs AND it got that far because the D carried the team and the O sucks...that wouldn't save their jobs. Wilson would have to be flying right...in a big way, to convince Wal Mart their biggest investment was in good hands (Wilson)

I do not see a scenario where anything resembling and acceptable outcome to the Walmart conglomerate, comes to fruition, so....in a way the bet would favor anyone who would take it because it's not JUST that Paton and Hackett get the boot....that has to happen AND then Denver would have to win what is sure to be a rich market for the services of Sean Payton.

A lot would have to go right for me to win.

Look on the bright side, Broncos Country (let’s ride)….

Hackett’s extreme and in your face suckage will probably work in your favor. If he had just kind of sucked, he’d get another year and you’d likely miss out on Payton. It took unprecedented suckage to make this happen.
