Ok, so when Hackett was being hired, I wasn't thrilled because was it Rodgers or Hackett that was good.....I felt Rodgers but maybe it was with Hackett's help as OC. Then I'm informed Hackett will call the plays here. I am not a fan of head coaches taking on the additional duties of OC/DC. It's then pointed out to me that several head coaches in the league do this and one was Matt LaFleur. Yeah, I really hope this doesn’t turn into Adam Gase 2.0. A truly great QB can cover a multitude of sins. Gase was a hot candidate after the record-setting Manning offenses, but take him away from PFM and he turned out to be a pretty lousy HC. Obviously Russ can be that guy here too, but he’s also still in the process of learning new teammates / offense / coaches / organization / city, etc. And not playing in the pre-season probably set everyone back a bit too. There’s obviously plenty of time left to still find their groove, but man there were sure a lot of 🤡 moments out there today.

The thing I don't understand is why didn't the 2nd and 3rd string have these play clock issues in preseason? I don't remember them having issues even in the first preseason game.Comment

Too worried about making the wrong call that he overthinks it and as a result it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy which ends in a wasted timeout, a delay of game penalty, and/or a poor use of the clock. He’s trying too hard and trying to do too much IMHO. Delegate. Especially in the fourth quarter of a close game. Hand the keys over to Russ and let him drive. It’ll be ok. 👍🏻Comment
