  • Let’s talk about everything ELSE Hackett did wrong

Other than the decision at the end of the game that most high school coaches would be fired for…..

    1. Played under center for 3 quarters, until he got to the 1 yard line.

    2. Sat out Javonte for basically the entire 3rd quarter.

    3. The Javonte fumble was coaching’s fault. We didn’t get the plays in all night. We broke the huddle with 8 seconds left all night long. Every delay of game was on the coaches.

    4. Didn’t use any challenges (not sure if you can challenge offsides) but failed to be on the refs at all.

    5. Cant stress enough that Russell was not getting the plays in. They had the snap down because it was: rush to the line, have Wilson yell at his WR to quickly shift (taking Russell’s attention off the D) and hurry and snap.

Honestly the players were studs. Not calling any of the players out. Purely a coaching L here.

We were a half second away from having a delay of game penalty.

    With 20 seconds left.

    With three timeouts.

I’ve honestly never seen anything like that.

You see that from teams that have been crumby for 5 years skip preseason games..

This is the most egregious and questionable. How many quick count off hip QB sneak TDs did Brady run In NE?

I would have liked to see Hackett challenge that incomplete call at the end zone where one of the TEs appeared to have caught it. It was real close.

Yeah, sometimes you have to challenge not just to try to overturn the play, but to change momentum. That is exactly what Carrol was doing in the final drive when he challenged the spot on the third down conversion. He knew the call was unlikely to be overturned but it changed the momentum of the drive and slowed the Broncos down just that little bit.

How many of the goal line plays were blown up because they snapped the ball at the last second and the defense Tee'd off?

I mentioned this in the game thread too............. Seattle was staring rookie and inexperience CB...and lost Jamaal Adams early. WHY, with Wilson as your QB, and a veteran WR group, did Denver not attack that much? When they finally got around to it, they drew a couple PI penalties at least. This was the most baffling thing to me. You have the QB and investments at WR, and you go and attack with your JAG TE's (who all looked pretty good) ....and a pretty heavy does of running.

Granted this would look better if the red zone possessions were converted because the running game and boot game were going well.

Haha. I’m done in “sky is falling mode” I’m in “let’s see if he has the humility to get better mode”.

If next week Russell Wilson is getting the play 15 seconds later than he should be, I’ll be worried. It will be a non-correction of something very very evident.

Sweet shotgun formations inside the 5 against a goaline front.

                          We don't have good TE's

People keep saying this but the “attack with JAG TEs” was working and they couldn’t stop it so why wouldn’t they do that? Their 11 personnel, spread and empty packages weren’t working for two quarters.

I don't think Wilson had a great game. His deep accuracy was not on point and he made a couple of ill-advised throws, one should have been intercepted in the endzone, the other could have been picked by J. Adams. Also, when the play clock was running out and it was obvious that the o-line was unsettled before J. Williams' fumble, Wilson should have called the timeout.

However, the blame for this loss has to go primarily to Hackett. He looked lost as a HC and panicked at the end. The decision to have Gordon instead of Williams on that first fumble was questionable. As the HC, the decision to not call the timeout before Williams' fumble was unacceptable. The confusion across the o-line was obvious. As Glasgow mentioned, the play was changed to run and he got into a pass set. And then at the end there is no need to explain further, total collapse from the HC with the awful time management and the decision to kick that FG.

I seriously doubt Fangio would have lost that game with R. Wilson as his QB.

Good post. I’m just now seeing this thread. Agree on Wilson not playing all that well despite his numbers looking pretty good. People got mad at me for “blaming” him in a couple threads after the game.

This is what Hackett is being called most for. Very Fangioesque time management and why not call a time out in an attempt to get the ball closer at the end.

VJ and Fangio doesn't have Wilson. they were given mediocre QB's and you can't win games with them.

Trusting a Kicker over future HOF QB in Wilson -> Shame on Hackett.
It's same shit they did in GB.
