  • NFL using Fangio D

The Bills didn’t blitz and dropped 7 in coverage with light boxes all night. That’s the Fangio formula. The Rams…not so much.

Denver is abandoning the Fangio system and going to a Rams type system.
    More man coverage and blitzing.

Stafford I think may have been no1 in Qb rating vs the blitz last year. Mahomes burrow etc those guys kill the blitz.

I think being on the field for more snaps so Russ can try and win an MVP, and going to an LA style D, is a recipe for disaster.

What are you talking about? The Rams “type system” is the Fangio system. A coach’s mileage will vary in how much they bring pressure but it is the Fangio defense. The Rams played in quarters all night.

The Bills play more of a traditional Cover 2 defense. Somehow you got this completely backwards even with the obvious connections.

And playing nickel against a team playing in exclusively 11 personnel is not some Fangio formula. It’s what every coach would do. Why would you stack the box against that grouping? Come on Zero 🤦‍♂️

      Another shit thread.

No one knows really what the broncos defense will look like

Evero has learned under many different DCs including Wade Phillips, Brandon Staley (uses fangio D), and Vic Fangio himself (back in SF)

we will see what he puts together. He didn’t show much of anything in preseason. All the calls were vanilla

This board kills me. So we bitch about how flat Fangio's D was. Lack luster and a false hood of stats but not good. We get rid of Fangio and now we should stay with Fangio D .

You missed on this one Zero.

aside from Aztecs obvious refuting post that easily explains why you missed the dart board, I’ll entertain this in another way.

when’s the last time Fangio won a SB? When’s the last time the Rams D won a SB?

And stack the box at the same time.

Plus we gonna throw 12 100 air yard TDs.
            And run for 7000.

            Lol...

I want to know where Zero got the idea that the Rams are this man-heavy blitzing team. They literally sat back in Cover 4 all game and let Allen pick them apart underneath. Lol.

I don't see anywhere anybody, except maybe the KC fan, saying we shouldn't abandon Fangio's D. Most of us are in a wait and see mode. I would prefer we abandon it, just hoping we put together schemes that take in the talent we have, which Fangio did not do.

That is not correct very similar to Fangio's D last year.
              Direct quote from

Broncos DC Ejiro Evero: 'There will be a lot of carryover' from Vic Fangio's defensive scheme

Pressure from 4 is preferred but pressuring the QB is the #1 priority.

I like how we’re gonna refuse to give up the over-the-top, big plays… this is the best way to keep the offense in front you…. 👍

Probably 1/3 of the league (and growing) runs Fangio’s scheme at this point. Its strengths are obvious, it’s hard to hit the deep shots and with the right personnel you can stop the run with lighter boxes.

The problem with Fangio as a defensive play caller here wasn’t his system, it was the way he called it. Way too conservative at times when they needed the defense to create plays. I imagine Evero will be using most of the same structure and terminology, but will call it more aggressively.

the defense was the bright spot last season. That’s not saying much really.

With an offense that can score points, and sustain drives, it will make our defense almost automatically better.

Nice try being a troll Zero on this one Zero but it really does make me question your football IQ. Bills played pretty much Tampa 2 all game long knowing that if Kupp caught 20 balls in the cover hole that it wouldn't be enough.

The part of your post that is somewhat correct for me is I hope Ejiro isn't a blitz happy guy like Spags or some of these other DCs. I like more of a style of D that adjusts to opponent vs this is the scheme i run regardless.

If you really believed the Broncos whole goal was to get Russ MVP, why would you bet me the under on Russ's TD passes?

Amazing how quickly the fanbase shifted from labeling Fangio the greatest defensive mind in NFL history to wanting to abandon all his concepts.

His concepts are fine. His inability or unwillingness to mold them to the talent on his roster is his largest shortcoming. That or the narcissism that might be at the heart of that weakness.

Agree with this, also would like to add his unwillingness to adapt and change game plans.

Von had the green light to rush the passer every down.

In Vic's system he had to first diag the play with his head up then adjust to either rush or pass. It was purely read and react, rarely were they allowed to attack and when they were the O was expecting it.

He looked like the 2015 Von because he played chess instead of checkers with his guy setting him up for the next play. It was funny hearing the Mouth from the South talk about Von getting stonewalled and then having to praise him for setting his guy up on the last play to using the bull rush to get a timely sack.

The only thing the Bills did was stick with rushing 4 DL and using the zone more.

Rams only had Kupp to throw to so it was easy pickings in the back 7 plus they need a real RB.

I never once saw a stupid 3 man pass rush with an ILB rushing as the NT like I saw for 3 wasted years with Vic while he dropped everyone else.

                                          Fangio is an idiot savant.
the savant part is his scheme design.
The Idiot part is all the rest.
He's an idiot at adjusting to his players strengths.
He's an idiot at calling time outs.
He's an idiot in situational football.
He orders hamburger at his bosses steak house.
                                          He hired Shurmer.
                                          He kept McMahon.
                                          He chose Bridgewater.
He told edge rushers, one of them a generational player that won SB MVP, Edge Rush specialists that got 20+ sacks the year before mind you, to hesitate before going and let the opponent determine what they do. That's as stupid as having Jerry Rice and Joe Montana and handing off every down to a rookie RB
                                          **** Fangio.
                                          Vance Johnson is smarter.
                                          So is Forest Gump
