It's honestly surprising that any of the "British Invasion" rockers is still alive today -- those guys lived a very wild lifestyle back in the day. While Keith may never have had the GQ good looks of the Kennedys -- he more than made up for that with his guitar mastery.

Still, the ridiculousness of the conspiracy theorists is beyond comprehension. One has to point and laugh at thousands of people believing such a farfetched thing as JFK Jr. faking his own death (ok, he "might" have done that to escape the relentless publicity he faced all of his life) but then to re-appear in the spotlight 22 years later -- not just into celebrity, but back into politics -- for the scion of a Democratic family to come back to play second fiddle (run as VP) to a Republican -- is so beyond the realm of possibility even without the belief that JFK himself would be resurrected to endorse Donald Trump too.

If I'd been silly enough to show up in Dallas for that kind of nuttery -- I'd wanna deflect and say "hey, I was just here for a Stones concert" ---

Earlier in this thread, it was suggested that people were intentionally trying to make QAnon look loonier than they already are. Adding the "Keith Richards is JFK" aspect to an already-loony expectation of resurrection of two dead people -- is just one more layer of crazy. "Going off the rails on a crazy train".....

To be honest, my problem is even worse than that, kind of a lot worse. I've retreated into denial about the scope of it ... all these Pro-Q, Anti-vax, Pro-trump, Anti-Logic, Anti-Science, Anti-Thinking.. . . misfits.

And there's still so many of them. I'd always thought we could wait 'em out, and their numbers would thin. But 4 or 5 years now, and the numbers have held. None of 'em look ready to 'snap out of it' either.


So now, creeping through my denial is this idea that maybe ... all this might portend a broad, dramatic societal shift. Away from our own representative style of democracy - and toward a top-down authoritarian government. First it's Putin's trump-loving Russians who surprisingly find some measure of acceptance in our heartland ... maybe next it's Xi Jingping and Red Rising. Where everything is so shiny and new. Suddenly they have a bigger Navy than we do - and just as suddenly they have a bigger Economy too! I knew that was coming, but still I wasn't ready.

LUCK is on their side - they're making another great leap forward by merely absorbing two of the world's richest, most technically advanced enclaves: Hong Kong and soon enough Taiwan.

I'ma start opening my eyes. Heaven help us.

some observations -

The problem with the whole russion collusion issue....and with representative government as we have in general...is that my vote counts exactly as much as a Q supporter, an Antifa person, and so on. The idea of collusion raises a few questions

1. Who are the people who are out there that sit around a couple months or less from an election and can't make up their mind....AND they are waiting to decide based on media, or a quote etc...and NOT policy etc. Most people are party voters as it is...and even if they aren't, it's amazing to me that there are so many people out there who would be undecided about a national election to the point that outsiders could influence them effectively. AS polorized as things are...that's hard to believe on the one hand....but considering how many people don't pay close attention to issues and politics...its quite plausible. It's bothered me for a long time that just anyone schmuck can vote. Feels like a hitchhiker telling the owner of the car where to drive it, how fast to go, and what the radio station should be tuned to.

2. With that in mind....You can call China whatever you want, but they gave up on communism decades ago...what they are is fascist capitlaists. One party, that only let the best brightests and most loyal into the party....an issue comes up, the party hashes it out...and then they move forward....it's impressive and efficitent in some ways....They get things done.....that benefit the mass of people even though I know some get F'd over without recourse. I don't see it soon, but I can see a possible gradual move away from democracy as we have it now, toward something more in line with what China does.

It doesn't bother you that there are people in America today who believe that JFK Jr isn't really dead (that he faked his own death long ago) -- and that JFK himself would be resurrected -- and both (staunch Democrats) would show up in Dallas to endorse a Republican? It shows me that there's no fable so farfetched that gullible people won't find a way to believe it.

Mostly, I point and laugh at QAnon types -- but it does offend me that they cheered and waved flags at the spot where JFK was shot -- on the anniversary of the day it happened. His death was not something for Americans to celebrate.
