  • 2022 Broncos Regular Season, news, & misc thread.

Ok, it's way past time to retire the 2021 version of this thread, and start a new one. Use this thread to post info that doesn't really fit existing threads. Besides, we are past TC, and need an all around thread.

One of the last questions I have on Hackett can’t really be answered until well into season, but in the meantime is this excellent article on the process of how Hackett goes about game planning for games. Highly recommend this read.

Here’s a just handful of snippets from the article:

“There may be no better demonstration of Hackett's acumen than his ability to put together a game plan. The weekly process requires schematic brilliance and nearly unending work to highlight the team's strengths and attack an opponent's weaknesses.
And this is how it happens…”

“The coaches then retreat to do their own work for the upcoming matchup. For Hackett, that work includes cramming in as much tape as possible on the Broncos' next opponent.
I try to watch as many games as I possibly can [to] get a great feel on who they are [and] what they are, Hackett says.”

“Then, he can go to work at whittling the Broncos' playbook into a game plan. It's important to realize that each week's game plan contains just a fraction of the Broncos' total package of plays.”

“They'll know, in part, because the available options do not change after training camp. Hackett says he doesn't wake up in the middle of the night during the season, searching for a piece of paper on which to jot down a new play. There may be some ideas to tweak certain elements, but Hackett largely trusts the system in place.”

“At this point in the process, Hackett anticipates getting Russell Wilson involved. The two will talk on Monday about the previous day's game, and Hackett will look for Wilson's input on the upcoming week.”

We already saw a bit of this in that first game. The operation on the Broncos sidelines was smooth. The Cowboys were a train wreck. Also in the penalties. Early signs are good.

This is a crackup, and makes him easy to root for. That said, I hope his most meaningful plays this season are kneel downs.

They said it’s a knee injury “day to day”.

If this is true, then sit him next week.

He could use a series or two just to get acclimated to the new offense.

Think they’ll all eat up Rush attempts in this last game. I don’t want to see Gordon or Williams out there. Our luck one goes down in injury.

This is fine, but I’m more interested in what he said/did to the team.

Either way Fangio never apologized to the fans for his many embarrassing efforts we had to endure on sundays.

                                    I like it.

Hackett knows the depth isn't good so isn't playing starters. Seems like a good plan even though most fans can't grasp that concept and already freaking out.

That’s what I’ve been saying all along. It’s obvious one or 2 injuries will derail the season. So let’s open up more opportunities for injuries by playing starters in meaningless games.

Sheldon Richardson is available for about $3.5 mil, maybe less. If they decide to cut Purcell, it’s a wash. Suh is also available, but for about $9 mil.

                                      I’d go sign Suh.

Depth is the problem. So depth needs the reps right?
