  • Broncos are signing veteran LB Joe Schobert

Could smell this one a mile away.

Good move by the FO, this helps our depth and doesn't put us behind the 8 ball for the first month of the season.

He is still probably the best coverage backer we've had in years. I didn't pull up career highlights, but here he was last year. Should help!

I think with the quality of our d-line, we can use his speed and play diagnosis to it's best. He won't be the "hammer" that Griffith is, but he can cover sideline to sideline better. He's a really smart player and should help this group for not too much money.

Also gives us a chance to get Griffith 100% healthy instead of trotting him out there with a duct-taped elbow

I don't think he is that washed. He had a ton of tackles last year. He may have lost a step in coverage but it also may be how Pitt used him.

There was some buzz about Schobert and the Broncos in 2020 before the Jags overpaid him.

Vic Lombardi is mentioning that Schobert passed on offers because he wanted to be in Denver:

Who knows but it's a solid signing at this stage of the offseason and he might not be needed as a starter for a long period.

He could also start and never relinquish his spot. With JJ off of injury this is a good signing. A guy that can play without being a complete liability.

That seems to be a reoccurring theme.

                    Reminds me of Ed McCaffery.

Should have gone after Anthony Barr harder. Paton kind of whiffed this off season at ilb. Never really understood the Singleton signing.

Feels like Al Wilson was the last MLB leader we had on the team.

Is Barr better than Schobert? Singleton makes huge sense. He can start if needed and plays ST. He is super cheap too. ILB is a pretty far down the list of priority anymore in the way the NFL is played now.

It is possible that the Saints were also trying to sign Schobert because, as soon as it was announced Schobert to Denver, the Saints made a move for Jon Bostic.

And we don't know if Paton could have done anything else to bring Anthony Barr. A reporter mentioned that Barr passed on a better offer to join the Cowboys, so maybe the Broncos even offered more money.

Barr said he chose the Cowboys because he wanted to play for his former coach George Edwards.

Paton has given us depth at ILB. I think we do well at the position.

Virtually everyone at ILB is on a one-year prove it deal.

I like the two deep at LB when Griffith is back. Needed to get Strnad out of there.

Jewell, Singleton, Strnad and now Schobert. Thats just not really strong. They better hope Jonas can play.

and when did jewell become some stalwart? Did i miss the season where he was good?

Why are so many down on Schobert? Seems like a strong player with good career production.

Should have drafted Nakobe Dean. Had multiple chances. 🤦🏾‍♂️🤦🏾‍♂️🤦🏾‍♂️

Jewell is fine, he gets no love here and I just don't get that.

I don't get why people are down on Schobert signing. He is a proven starter in this league and can play at a high level at times. He can get depth in pass game and make a ton of tackles. He has shown he can stay healthy unlike the 2 current starters. I won't be shocked if Denvers starting lineup at ILB for the majority of the season are Schobert and Singleton. Can someone point out why they don't like this signing?
