  • Broncos trying to trade Fuller

This will be the same situation where Denver has to pay most the contract in order to move him. No one taking on that contract for 2021. Teams seen denver willing to pay the extra for the draft pick.

otherwise they won’t get anything and Fuller sits on the bench all year for 9M.

Honestly, I would be happy if we could get a 6th round selection for him to fill out the gap we currently have between the 5th and 7th round in 2022.

If we take the salary the pick should go up. I’d sit on it. Several teams need him for their championship run.

Right now, the worst thing that could happen is Fangio goes super stubborn and insists on playing aging vets who won't be on the team next year over the young guys. Paton would be wise to prevent Fangio from doing this by getting rid of those vets and seeing what we can get in return.

Paton should package Fuller with one of the two sevenths they have left (unsure what they gave for Weatherly: original, DET, or SF) and try to move up into the sixth or at best, get another fifth. Even a positional rise of ~ 50 slots would be a win.

Keeping Fangio is a conflict with what we just did. We should be playing young players and improving draft position. Fangio will coach to save his job. We all know playoffs are a pipe dream. Time to restructure & rebuild. Give the new coach, whoever that will be, young talent and draft picks.

It is unfortunate, but Paton has to play the political game. He can't fire Fangio and Shurmur mid-season because the fraternity of current, former, and future NFL coaches is a close-knit one. His actions with Fangio and Shurmur will reflect on his ability to attract up and coming talent this off season. He can't come off as overbearing, meddling, or reactionary. It sucks, because I also see little point in watching the Fangion/Shurmur ship continue to sink. But, these are the needles you have to carefully thread in this arena.

You know, Paton hasn't stopped balling since he's been here. If he can get some value for Fuller, it will be amazing. Fuller won't make a difference to this team in 2021 (or ever...).

Do some magic Paton - get us a fourth rounder

One or the other could be fired now. 4-4 prevents it. If it was 2-6 a mid season firing happens IMO. Fangio would rather lose his job than fire Shurmur…plenty of examples of OCs demoted/fired mid season. This is the problem of hiring a career DC who knows nothing on the offensive side and just let’s the OC run the show. The clear choice would be fire Shurmur now Munchak OC for rest of year. If they turn in a winning season Fangio May live to see another day. Continue the route Fangio is gone.
